Message from Principal David Ewers
This week is our final week of school prior to the Thanksgiving break. We are hoping for a great week of academic work before our students and staff receive a much-needed break. If you find that your student needs assistance, please remind them of the academic support we provide (details below). Let's have a great week before the break and Go Bison!
Seminar – Tuesday 9:20 – 10:55
Seminar is a designated academic intervention time for students to check their grades, meet with teachers to catch up on any missing coursework, take and retake tests, and even conference with a teacher to develop an academic plan to get back on track. Students must get a pass to the designated teacher BEFORE seminar.
After School Tutoring- Mon/Wed – See schedule below:
North offers tutoring for students after school in-person on Monday/Wednesday – 3:00- 4:20. Students are provided an after-school meal free of charge, and we also provide a late bus for students who need transportation home.
Security Update:
- Please assist us in reminding your student that they must enter the school building through the main entrance during school hours. Allowing students in through other doors, or propping doors open for easy entry, creates a security problem for the building.
- Please do not park in the row along the construction fence in the parking lot on the east side.
- Please avoid parking at buildings close to the high school while waiting to pick up your child from school.
- Students are not allowed to park in the front circle. We reserve this area for our visitors to the building.

NEWS & UPDATES FROM SM NORTH
SENIORS & PARENTS - GRADUATION
Communication was sent out on Friday to seniors and their families about Jostens and graduation. If you are a senior student or in their adult Skyward contacts, please check your email to see that important information. If you did not get that, please update your Skyward contact addresses so future communications can reach you. Meanwhile, here is the link the Jostens information that was sent.
Parents/Guardians of Freshmen Students:
Your student will be receiving their Pre-ACT 8/9 test results through their seminar class. They will also receive their test booklets so that they can go back and look at the questions missed. The report can be a good indicator of on level preparation for the ACT and academic progress. This test was administered for these two purposes only and student scores will not be shared or input into Skyward. If you or your student has additional questions, or want to know more about the meaning of the scores, please visit https://success.act.org/s/article/Using-Your-PreACT-Results.
Food Deliveries from Door Dash, Uber Eats, etc. are not allowed at SM North. Please encourage your student to refrain from ordering food for delivery. The delivery drivers will be turned away due to not having proper approved identification and this becoming a logistical issue. We appreciate your help in this matter.

From your Real World Learning Counselor:
YouScience – Parents and Students, YouScience is an aptitude and career discovery survey that all students will be completing by Thanksgiving Break. By completing the aptitude questions and career questions, students will be given personalized career matches that can help them when selecting possible high school programs to enroll in, job shadows, or internship programs. The results from YouScience are also used for invites to career expo events, field trips, and internships. With the list of possible career options that YouScience provides, students can also learn the pathway they can take to get into the career of their choice. If you have questions, please feel free to reach out to Mrs. Sherer or Mrs. Miner.
