Algebra in Architecture
2021 Virtual Showcase
Take A Tour
Your students have been working on their #seeingalgebra semester1 projects: Algebra in Architecture since November 22nd. Students were asked to find and create a piece of architecture using only the Algebra concepts that we studied this semester. This project allowed students to see the connections between units 3, 4, 5, and 6 as well as a chance to see how they could take algebraic concepts and create a really cool piece of artwork.
Concepts that students had to apply to complete this project.
- understanding systems of equations and that the solution is the intersection of those two lines; students used that idea to connect their buildings
- the 3 forms of linear equations: slope -intercept; standard form; point - slope form. Students were able to choose the form they found the most useful and could change between forms as they worked
- understand of the role of domain and range of functions; students used this concept to know where to cut off their lines to create the desired piece of architecture
- compound inequalities: students used their understanding of compound inequalities to write domain and range restrictions for each individual line
I can't wait for you to take a tour of your child's virtual showcase. Simply click on the period that your child has Algebra and be amazed. I know that I was!
