Autumn Term -3rd October 2024
Message from the Executive Head Teacher
Dear Parents/Carers,
Happy National Poetry Day!
We are incredibly proud of the catering team who this week were awarded the Level 5 health and hygiene award-well done team! The lunchtime experience for the children is such an important part of the day for the children and making it welcoming and healthy are both key. The children really enjoy the lunches and the variety of choices available at the salad bar. All lunches are currently free and are funded by the mayor of London. Please see the photos.
As you know we are having our own baby boom at HPP! Last week Mrs Clark started her maternity leave and I look forward to letting you know about the newest member of the HPP team.
We are welcoming The Real Junk Food Project to our Harvest assembly on Wednesday 16th October. If you are able to, please bring in donations of canned / dry food and toiletries. Key items requested are: canned tomatoes, canned pulses, canned coconut milk, canned fruit, UHT milk, sugar and packets of rice, lentils and couscous. Thank you for all your donations!
Both our schools at HPP are continually grateful for the ongoing support of our generous parent and carer community. The Junior School has created an Amazon wish list of supplies for each year group that will help our children learn and grow whilst they're at school. If you would like to support the school by purchasing something from the wish list we'd be incredibly thankful - please find the links to the wishlists below, and select HPPA Wishlist at the checkout.
Finally, last week Mr James launched the silver tokens for playground behaviour and I'm delighted to see so many have already been collected - such fantastic playground behaviour from the pupils of HJS but still a way to go until we announce the winner so keep it up!
Have a wonderful weekend and I'm hoping the rain will stop.
Ms H Lockey

Year 3 News
Last week, Year 3 visited Butser Farm on a wet and rainy day. However, that didn't stop their fun! The children visited Stone Age houses, held Stone Age artefacts, learnt how to make cordage, played some celtic board games and made their own prehistoric jewellery. The Year 3 teachers are really proud of the children's excellent behaviour on the school trip.
BAGS HAVE GONE HOME TODAY
WE NEED YOUR HELP TO RAISE MONEY FOR OUR SCHOOL
Clothing Collection with Rags 2 Riches 4 Schools
Thursday 17th October
Bags will be sent home shortly so start collecting now!
Do you have clothes in your wardrobe that you no longer wear, maybe last year’s fashions, or that buy that was too good to leave but it’s not really you after all?
Please help us fundraise by donating your good quality unwanted, reusable (clean, dry and wearable) clothes and accessories (please pair and tie shoes together)
We get 50p for every kilo we collect of reusable items.
Your donations become affordable clothing in other countries so please do not send uniform, poor quality, dirty or wet items, and no duvets, pillows, curtains, books, CDs or bric-a-brac.
STOP and THINK - is it something you’d wear out and about yourself or pass to a friend? If not, no-one else will want to buy and wear it either, so unfortunately it’s not reusable and can’t go in the bag.
Even if it’s only one t-shirt please bring it in, as it will all help our school.
If you can involve family, friends and neighbours please do.
We truly appreciate your support in helping raise additional funds for our school for the benefit of our children.
There’s no better feeling than knowing you raised funds, helped the economy, the environment, and somebody on the other side of the world – and all by donating some clothes.
If we can fill 100 bags we’ll have half a tonne!
Please bring your donations to school on
Thursday 17th October at drop off.
