Timberwolf Times
Volume 7 Issue 5, August 25th
A message from Dr. Lowry:
Timberwolves,
We had another great week at WoodCreek. On Wednesday, we had the opportunity of hosting Open House for our 6th grade parents. Thank you to all that came out to walk the halls and meet your child's teachers. We had a great turnout!
This Wednesday, August 28th, we will have Open House for both 7th and 8th grade parents starting at 6:00pm. We ask that you please refrain from parking across the street in the SPORTS COMPLEX. Please use the back parking behind WCJH or park on the streets where permitted.
For those of you that didn’t make it out to the Pre-Season Volleyball Tournament, you can catch the girls in action this week as they start district against Katy Jr. High. Please see calendar below for times and dates of each team.
FUN FOOD FRIDAY is back! Our first one of the year will be held on Friday, Sept 6th. Please see below for more information. Our PTA has also created a few links to pre-order lunch, and to volunteer or donate items so that FFF is a success. It's a great way to volunteer and see some smiling faces!
Lastly, if your student is considering joining Science Olympiad, NHD (National History Day) or wanting to take a trip of a lifetime be sure to see the flyers below for information.
As I said last week, please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions. It is important that the lines of communication between all members of our school community remain open and available. Together, WCJH will be a community of kindness, excellence, and trust.

7TH & 8TH GRADE OPEN HOUSE EVENT
FUN FOOD FRIDAY - SEPT. 6TH
Students that have PTA memberships along with an adult membership will get the privilege of being first in line for FFF.
This is an exciting time for the students, especially 6th grade. It only happens 6 times during the school year. September 6th will be the first one! FFF is when students get to purchase Chick-fil-A, pizza, chips, soda and candy. The event is a fundraiser that helps support WCJH. Parents are able to pre-purchase Chick-fil-A and pizza via our website. Wristbands will be given out during lunch to students that pre-purchased entrees on September 3rd and 4th. Pre-purchased option will close at 8am on Wednesday, September 4th. The student are able to purchase entrees in advance on the 3th and 4th during lunch with CASH only.
If you miss the pre-purchase window, students will have to wait till Friday during their lunch period. Soda, chips and candy are cash pay the day of the event only. Notice there is a price increase from last year. Make sure your child knows if they pre-purchased an entrée and/or is a PTA member! This will make the wristband distribution run smoothly!
Wristbands are the students responsibility to keep up with and must be worn on Friday, the day of the event!
If you did not pre-purchase and your child does not have a wristband, no worries, they will get to participate and purchase items as the Admin team releases them from the Cafeteria. Items for prepaid and purchase will be set up in the hallway and rotunda. Volunteers and staff will direct students.
We will have a limited amount of extra entrees for purchase along with tons of candy, chips and soda. CASH ONLY the day of the event! No bills larger than $20, please. Volunteers and donations are needed for this event. If you have a business that would like to sponsor, let us know.
Tentative dates for FFF for the 2024-25 school year: Oct 31st (Thursday), Dec 6th, Jan 17th, Feb 28th and May 2nd.
PTA knows that this is a fun event for all students and we can not wait to have the 6th graders experience this Jr High event. Please know that all the volunteers strive to make the event run smoothly and efficiently. We definitely work better as a pack on FFF!
CAMPUS ADVISORY TEAM - VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
CAMPUS ADVISORY TEAM INTEREST
I would like to thank you once again for your continual support of the programs being offered here at WCJH. With your help, we will have the opportunity to create more effective instructional programs. We are continually looking for ways to improve the educational setting at WCJH. I am looking for parents who are dedicated to our campus and are looking for ways to assist the school in reaching our improvement goals. I am asking for any WCJH parent, who desires a position on the WoodCreek Junior High Campus Advisory Team, complete this form.
The WCJH Campus Advisory Team consists of parents, teachers, administrators, interested community members, and supportive business partners. The purpose of the team is to become informed on various educational issues that are important to WCJH and Katy I.S.D. There are approximately 4 meetings each school year. The majority of the meetings are held at 4:30 p.m. Currently, we have three parent member positions to fill. This will be a two-year term, 2024-2025, and 2025-2026 school year.
If you are interested in being a member of the WCJH Campus Advisory Team, please complete this form no later than Friday, September 6, 2024 by 3:00pm. The following week all responses will be placed in a “hat” and names will be randomly drawn for the selection of our new members. The lottery system makes the selection process random and equitable. Please consider playing an important role in the future of WoodCreek Junior High School and in your children’s educational career.
Respectfully,
Dr. Lowry

WCJH LOCKER REQUEST
ATTENDANCE INFORMATION
A parent/guardian of a school-age child has the responsibility to require that his/her child attend school regularly.
When sickness or another reason necessitates an absence, a note signed by the parent/guardian or phone call explaining the reason for the absence is required prior to or when the student returns to school.
If a student fails to submit a note from the parent or the school does not receive a phone call from the parent, the absence will automatically be considered unexcused.
We appreciate the parents and caregivers and want everyone to know we are here to work with you and your child. There may be days that your child doesn't feel 100%. As long as they are not running a fever or contagious, coming to school is still the best way to stay on top of their studies and continue to gain the knowledge and education that we strive to provide all students.
