October Marches On

Hello Phoenix families,

This week we will participate in the great California Shakeout. At 10:21 on Thursday Moorpark College will conduct a drill where they practice their emergency response and we will participate also.

Tomorrow will be our first information night for prospective students. Please remember to tell your friends and family about all the wonderful things HSMC has to offer.

Next week is Spirit Week, check out the schedule and come ready to show your HSMC Spirit!

Student Health Center

As a Moorpark College student, the health center services are open to HSMC students. Please visit their website by clicking here.

It is important to note that the center does not operate on a drop in basis. If you want to partake of their services, you must call first and make an appointment.

Internet Connectivity

Do you have difficulty with your internet connectivity at home? MUSD may be able to help. We can provide HSMC student(s) with a "hotspot" to take home that will connect them to the internet and allow them to work on schoolwork while at home.

Samaritan Center Donation Drive Oct. 11- Nov. 5

HSMC gives back to the community! Donate the items below to the tubs in the classrooms. All donations benefit the unhoused community of Simi Valley and Moorpark.

Donations needed:

Unopened hygiene products
Deodorant
Feminine hygiene products
Travel size shampoo and conditioner
Soap and body wash

Prom Teacher Challenge Oct. 1- Dec. 5

Do you want to see the HSMC staff do some crazy stunts? Donate money and help raise funds for Prom 2022 at the same time! Donation jars will be in the office beginning October 1st. Once each goal has been reached, staff will do the stunt on the following Friday at noon.

Challenges:

Use one hand for a day $50

Monday Oct. 25- Wear Black and Orange
Tuesday Oct. 26- Twin Day! Twinning with one or more other HSMC students (or staff!)
Wednesday Oct. 27- Pajama Day! Be sure your PJs are school and weather appropriate
Thursday Oct. 28- Wear PINK for Breast Cancer Awareness!
Friday Oct. 29- Wear a Halloween costume! Costumes must NOT include gore, nudity, offensive language or content

Senior Portraits and Quotes WANTED!

Seniors can submit their portrait photo of choice to the yearbook gmail. This photo must be submitted by DECEMBER 10, 2021 to hsmcyearbook2022@gmail.com. Please see the attached information for requirements, resolution, and suggested photographers.

Please note that photos do not have to be taken by a professional photographer, but the lighting, quality, and content must be professional in nature.

Those who choose not to submit senior portraits will have their Cornerstone photos in the yearbook.

Senior quotes are not mandatory. Students can submit quotes that are 140 characters or fewer, and are school appropriate. Quotes must be submitted by DECEMBER 10, 2021 to hsmcyearbook2022@gmail.com.

Debate Club

Are you interested in learning more about debate and engaging in interesting discussions? Join the HSMC Debate Club! HSMC Art Club

LGBTQ+ History and Book Club

Tabletop Roleplay Game Club (TTRPG)

TTRPG is a club that promotes creativity through playing games like Dungeons and Dragons. You can play an exotic spellcaster who wishes to rule the world with an iron fist or you can play Bob who wants to settle down on a farm with a loving family. No Experience with TTRPG? Doesn't matter! Our main goal is to just have fun so we welcome anyone who is open to playing no matter their experience!

Film and Photography Club

The film and photography club on the HSMC campus will have weekly themes, as well as an opportunity to present your photos/films every week. You can make them as funny or as serious as you would like. This club will differ from Mr. Hoobs' film class in that we will not be watching films, but shooting them, or, if that's not your style, just taking photos. The club will be meeting in TR-3 every friday from 12:00 - 12:40. This is a place where you can express your personal identity, while also creating a laid back environment to destress every week.
