Back to School Assessments
It is the time of year where we will be assessing students in reading, writing, and math so we can create a goal for them for this school year specific to their needs. Classroom teachers will reach out as needed when they are completed.
Homework
Homework in second grade is an extension to what we are learning in class. This is extra practice and not a grade but we encourage you to take 15 mins a days to sit down with your child and review what we are learning.
Homework will officially start the week of September 3rd.
Homework will consist of completing the back of the phonics activity that we complete in class. Students will also receive readers to be read at home. These readers follow what we are learning in phonics.
Students will receive a prize on Fridays for returning all their phonics homework and having their readers signed acknowledging they either read the story or the story was read to them.
More details will be sent home as we approach September 3rd.
Snack Time
We have snack time about 2:15 daily. Students are responsible for bringing their own snack. This should be something they can eat quickly and move on to our next activity.
Students are welcome to bring bottles of water to class as well. Each teacher will set their own rules and expectations for bottled water in the classroom.
Schedule
Schedules are approximate and possibles changes could be made based on school and classroom needs such as safety drills, assemblies, and testing schedules.
Library Time
Second grade visits the library once a week at a schedule time.
Yummy!
Breakfast and Lunch are FREE this year for all students.
Safety
Safety is a top priority at ROE. Students must wear their school badges at the top of their shirts where it is easily visible at all times when inside in the school building. Students are given TWO FREE badges. If those are lost then a fee will be paid to receive a new badge.
