SCSD celebrates Journey to Excellence winners
On Friday, April 24th, SCSD administration and members of the Board of Education surprised our Journey to Excellence award winners for the 2022-23 school year. It's one of the best days of the year and we love to celebrate our wonderful staff members and the amazing work they do for the SCSD community.

SCHS Seal of Biliteracy students
Congratulations to the following SCHS Pirate Senior Class of 2023 for obtaining the Missouri Seal of Biliteracy. These students have successfully met all the requirements including, proficient in EOC and/or ACT English language scores, passed the Seal of Biliteracy AAPPL exam in a specific world language, and they have completed a Global Competency project. They will receive a Seal of Biliteracy graduation cord, a certificate and the opportunity to include this honor on a college and scholarship application or resume. We are very proud of you!
SCSD DECA student have great showing at Internationals
SCW DECA had three members and SCHS had two members travel to Orlando, FL for DECA's International competition. Addie Nichols, Megan Johnson, and Anna Baumann from SCW, and Caleb Elliott and Tasha Johns from SCHS joined 22,000+ people to attend a five-day conference and competition. Addie competed in Quick Serve Restaurant Management, Megan and Anna competed in Buying and Merchandising Team Decision Making, Caleb competed in Financial Consulting-Sales, and Tasha participated in the Ignite Leadership training.
Competitors included students from all over the US, Canada, Costa Rica, Germany, Poland, and more! Megan, Anna, and Caleb received awards for scoring in the top 25% of test takers. Students were also able to escape for a beach day as well as attend a DECA-exclusive park night at Universal Studios! SCW and SCHS DECA are proud of all five members and the hard work it took for the opportunity to compete at this level.

Teacher Appreciation Day
May 2nd was National Teacher Appreciation Day! THANK YOU so much to our amazing SCSD teachers who work tirelessly to improve the lives of our students and strengthen our community. The impact you make every day lives on forever. We hope you enjoyed the day!
Monroe Map Testing Dinner
Monroe hosted a family dinner for 3rd and 4th graders and their families Sunday evening to get ready for MAP testing the next morning. The purpose of this event was to celebrate all of the work our students have done this year and to encourage them as they begin state testing. Families enjoyed their time together and with friends and are ready to bring on May and MAP testing!

Hardin Color Run
On Friday, April 28th, over 300 students at Hardin Middle School collected $32k in pledges in April for their Color Run. Donations collected will be used to help pay for this year's and next year's 8th-grade field trip, as well as 7th-grade staycation stations. We are so thankful for all of our students and our Hardin community who participated.
Thank you to all the parent volunteers that helped make the run a success on Friday. Everyone had a great time!
Build My Future Event
On April 25th and 26th, over 1,000 STL area students attended Build My Future at the Family Arena, a construction career and industry showcase that includes hands-on exhibits and virtual reality simulations centered on the building trades and construction industry.
Around 100 SCSD high school students signed up the attend the event today and spent several hours exploring the venue and meeting with reps from local trade companies, post-secondary career education schools and trade union organizations. It was a great event offering our students a look into many excellent career paths and fields of work for their bright futures! Also, shout out to the Lewis & Clark staff and law enforcement students who volunteered to help with the event!
SCSD Optimist Club Scholarships
Congratulations to SCHS' Addison Kersting (left) and SCW's Laraya Duncan (not in photo) on being the recipients of a scholarship from the local chapter of the Optimist Club. Each student received a $1000 scholarship as they pursue more education at the collegiate level.
Great job Addison and Laraya!
SCHS FBLA State Leadership Conference
Congratulations to the SCHS FBLA team on their success at the recent State Leadership Conference. Individual members did a great job and the entire chapter received an award as well. Way to go SCHS FBLA!

OASIS Tutors year end celebration
Thank you to our OASIS volunteer tutors, building coordinators and administration who came to the last meeting of the year today, which also happened to be the 25th anniversary of the program helping SCSD students.
We appreciate everything these wonderful folks do to help our students and community! Thank you!
