41 Calendar Days Until Graduation
The Pirate Way
Hello Pirates,
As we hurtle forward on the exhilarating roller coaster ride that is the school year, I can't help but marvel at how quickly the twists and turns seem to come. With each passing day, we're propelled further along this thrilling journey, with its ups, downs, and unexpected loops.
Just like a roller coaster, our time in high school is filled with moments of anticipation, excitement, and, yes, even a few moments where it feels like we're hanging on for dear life. But through it all, one thing remains constant: our need to stay strong and focused until we reach the end of the ride.
For parents, guardians, and caregivers your role as the supportive passengers on this wild journey cannot be overstated. Your steady presence, encouragement, and reassurance provide the stability our students need to navigate the twists and turns of high school life. Your belief in their abilities is the safety harness that allows them to push past their limits and reach for the stars.
To our students, I want to remind you that while the ride may be fast-paced and occasionally nerve-wracking, you are more than capable of handling whatever challenges come your way. Embrace the adrenaline rush of tackling new assignments, participating in extracurricular activities, and making memories with friends. And when the ride gets bumpy, remember to hold on tight, stay focused on your goals, and trust that you have the skills and resilience to overcome any obstacles in your path.
Together, let's enjoy the highs, support each other through the lows, and celebrate every twist and turn that brings us closer to the end of the year. Like a roller coaster reaching its thrilling conclusion, let's finish the school year with a sense of accomplishment, pride, and the knowledge that we've ridden every peak and valley together.
Thank you for your unwavering support and dedication to making this roller coaster ride of a school year one to remember.
Hold on tight, because the best is yet to come!
Pirates you are a part of something big! You belong and will always belong in the Oceanside High School Pirate Community. What an amazing feeling to realize you belong to something bigger than the individual Pirate, but rather part of a 100 year plus Pirate Ship Community!
Regardless of where you may go and no matter what you end up accomplishing the one thing that you have to count on is that you will ALWAYS be a PIRATE!
Stay safe! Know you are loved and belong to the Pirate community - this is the Pirate Way!

OHS WILD RACOONS ROBOTICS
The Oceanside High School Robotics team, The Wild Raccoons, finished their season at the Championship in Houston this weekend. They ended the season with a record of 17-16 and a World standing of 1459 out of 3474. The team competed against a field of 600 teams with 50,000 attendees from around the world. The winning alliance of three from Israel, Missouri, and Pennsylvania defeated a favored all-Cali alliance in a defensive stunner.
The stats only tell part of the story, and our team qualifying for this event after only five competitions is a huge accomplishment. Please congratulate our team members and mentors who took a week off to compete in this event and represent Oside!

OHS PTSO
We are in urgent need of parents to step into Board Positions for next year. Please contact us if you are interested. PTSO is volunteer run and needs new parents to step in as others "graduate". Our organization fills a lot of gaps in our community to support clubs, CTE pathways, students and our amazing teachers and staff.
For those new to OHS, PTSO includes Parents, Teachers and Students to support the school community. Some of our goals are to promote parent interaction, support the faculty and staff and promote student achievement. Each year is a bit different so we welcome your ideas on ways we can support the school. The donations we receive and the funds we raise go toward staff appreciation events, teacher and club grants, student events, and more. We work closely with our principal Mrs.Garrahy, the administrators and counseling team to be responsive to current needs. All members have a vote in how our funds are used and we have a few openings for leadership positions if you want to give some time.
If you would like to join us or renew your membership for the year, please fill out the form here: OHS PTSO Form 2023-24. If you are interested in volunteering or serving on the board, please indicate that on the form.
Whether you participate in meetings or not, you can support our efforts with a tax-deductible donation. Please go here: PTSO Donation Page (Paypal or CC) or use our new venmo @osideptso. And please join us for our restaurant nights throughout the year.
We typically meet monthly on the first Wednesday of the month at 6pm. Stay connected with us by joining our Facebook group @Oceanside High School PTSO Parents for Pirates or following us on Instagram @piratesptso. We also encourage you to choose Oceanside High School PTSO as your designated charity in your AmazonSmile account. https://smile.amazon.com/ch/77-0684642

The OHS pirate flag, which went to Antarctica last year, is still making its rounds. During Spring Break, Mr Moodie had an opportunity to present at National Geographic Headquarters in Washington D.C. to train a new cohort of teachers who will be going on their own expeditions in the coming year! GO PIRATES!
RSVP for show choir auditions! We will have 3 amazing groups next year: High Seas, Soundwaves, and our all new men's choir RIPTIDES! Our Soundwaves Intermediate Mixed group will be taking another out of state trip next year to compete outside of California.
Students interested in any of our show choir groups should plan to attend auditions on May 1 in the choir room, and should RSVP for further instructions about what they'll need for auditions.
Congratulations to our Pirate Photographers!
We're proud to announce that a record total of eight Pirate Photographers have had their artworks selected by a panel of judges in the 2024 Congressional Art Competition. Each of the following OHS students will have their respective photograph on display in the Oceanside Museum of Art through June.
