Fun Run current numbers:

PRIMARY/ LOWER ELEMENTARY: 82% Registered / 67% Pledged

UPPER ELEMENTARY / MIDDLE: 68% Registered / 52% Pledged

Current School Profit: $27,565 (based on 95% collection) Great job!

Fun Run funds this year will be going toward several anticipated projects:

- Our Elementary garden is in the final stage of completion all thanks to your generous donations this year. Our outdoor kitchen in our harvesting garden has the funds needed and now that ODE teacher Josh is out there working with the students, he might have some significant ideas/changes on how that space will work best for student needs. We are excited to get his feedback and help make this a valuable learning space on our campus for years to come.

- The ODE for the Primary classes can now restock tools, seeds, plants and perhaps some soil too!

- Teacher supplies, PTA tables for our yearly events and much needed library books will also be able to be purchased this year. Many of our students favorite research topics / titles are not currently available in our school library. We will be working with teachers to come up with lists, finding a vendor and creating an order to enable us to fulfill classroom research needs.

One of the central tenets of the Montessori philosophy is the connection with the natural world.

The children in our primary garden have the daily opportunity to experience the natural world with structure and purpose. They learn how to use their hands in everyday endeavors focused on the care of the earth, its people and animals. Respect for the environment and for each other is enhanced by group activities that require care for tools and materials, cooperation with peers and completion of tasks.

At Shaw this is provided to the child through our outdoor environment. Our outdoor environment is funded SOLELY through tax credit donations made by parents like you that have chosen a Montessori education for their child.

Instead of paying for an expensive private Montessori education, you are fortunate enough to be getting one for free! Why not take a bit of that savings and benefit yourself and our children through a donation? Donations may be made in any amount up to $400.00 if you are married filing jointly or $200.00 if you are filing single head of household. You may receive a dollar for dollar credit for the donation (check with your tax professional). Next PTA / Site Council: Wednesday, October, 16th

Held every third Wednesday of the month. Site Council starts at 5:30PM and PTA begins right after from 6-7PM. Shaw Montessori parents are encouraged to attend in order to stay fully informed as to what’s happening on campus. Free babysitting is available for children age 3 and older. Pizza is offered before the start of PTA.
