Your Weekly Update from Johnson Elementary School
Dear Jaguar Families,
Welcome to 2024! It's a new year but the same amazing Johnson School. Since we've been back, we have done an all school mystery unit and our Peacemakers have prepared for their performance at the SPARK kindness MLK Jr. event on Monday. You will find more information about the SPARK kindness event below. Ask your child about the mystery unit, the kids were very excited about it.
Now that winter has started, this is just a friendly reminder, your child needs snow gear to play outside. Please label all the pieces.
Happy New Year!

News from PE
I hope everyone had a fantastic Winter Break and ready to tackle 2024 and all that it brings!
In the month of January, we are focusing on Scooter activities and completing the Pacer test for the second time this school year. A few of the scooter activities are Elbow Tag, Everybody’s It Tag, Scooter Hockey, & Scooter Handball. All of these activates will not only improve their Cooperation, Teamwork, Lower Body Strength, and Coordination. They will also allow them to do this while having a lot of fun!
I love seeing the smiles on my students faces when they see the scooters come out. They are ALL engaged while the gym fills with laughter. It makes me so happy seeing my students not only enjoy the activity, but it also allows them to just be kids!
The 2nd round of the Pacer Test will happen next Tuesday, Jan 16th. I know this test can cause some students to worry, but that’s the last thing I want them to do. Please help your child remember to bring or wear their sneakers to set them up for success. If you have any questions about the Fitness Testing, please reach out and ask.
My challenge this month is to encourage your child to drink more water. I know that might sound silly, but with all the sickness going around staying hydrated is something we tend to forget.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
DAILY REMINDERS:
Smart watches and phones should be in backpacks during the day.
Please label your child's clothing and water bottles. We are hoping to keep our lost and found from growing any larger.
Please send your students to school with a water bottle and a snack each day. We have bottle filling machines that students can use to refill as needed. Everyone has snack daily and should bring that in from home.
Remember also that you can update PickUp Patrol anytime. This is the way we reconcile attendance and run dismissal so please add any changes to your account in a timely manner.
