Blanco High School had 5 students sign letters of intent to participate in athletics at the collegiate level. These students were recognized in a signing ceremony on Friday (April 5) coordinated by BISD Athletic Director Jamie Dixon.

AP Letters were given to students on 3/7/2024 outlining the AP fees and the AP testing calendar. Exams are $30 per AP test your student takes. These funds are due by May 1, 2024 if your child is AP testing.
Please pay any outstanding OnRamps Dual Enrollment fees by May 1, 2024 as well.
ACC is now offering free college tuition beginning Fall of 2024 for high school graduates, or GED completers. Please visit the following website and see the parent email below for more information.
UIL Academics
The Blanco UIL team traveled to Comfort on Thursday (April 4) for Day 1 of their District Contest and to Llano for Day 2 of the District Contest Friday (April 5). When all of the results were tabulated, the BHS team finished second! Ten students qualified for the regional meet in Abilene (April 26 and 27). Results for the District Meet are below.

Essay Contest Winners
The Blanco Women's Club sponsored an essay contest for BHS students asking them to write about a community issue within the city of Blanco. Several BHS students submitted entries. Adaleen Olinick wrote about our water supply and the effects of population growth in the Blanco community, winning first place and a cash prize of $250. Ella Baker wrote about the need for better pedestrian infrastructure in Blanco earning second place and a cash prize of $150. Brooke Stille was third earning $100 for her essay about the effects of re-routing Hwy 281. Congratulations to these students and thank you to all who entered the contest. We also thank the Blanco Women's Club for sponsoring this contest and encouraging our students to be active within their community to address issues they see. Wellness Fair
Blanco CoAPT will be hosting their 7th Annual Wellness Fair in the BHS cafeteria on April 16 from 4 - 6 PM. There will be fun for all ages, prizes, free food and lots to do and see. Please see the information sheet below for more information and plan to attend the CoAPT Wellness Fair.
FFA
The FFA Judging Teams attended practice meets in Water Valley Thursday (4/4), at Angelo State Friday (4/5) in preparation for Area VII Contests in College Station (4/6). At the Area contest the meat judging team, the poultry judging team, and the entomology team qualified for state. Entomology will compete at Texas Tech on April 20. The Meat and Poultry judging teams will compete in College Station on April 27. Congratulations and Good Luck to these teams!

The Track teams were in Llano Wednesday (April 10) for the Area meet. Both the girls and boys competed well and qualified athletes for the regional track meet in Abilene next week. The girls finished 4th with 57 points behind Wall (152), Jim Ned (83), and Clyde (76). The boys were 3rd with 68 points behind Wall (189) and Jim Ned (101). Golf
The Boys Golf Team will compete in the Regional Golf Tournament on Monday and Tuesday (April 15-16). The Girls Golf Team will compete in the Regional Golf Tournament on Wednesday and Thursday (April 17-18)
Softball
The softball team traveled to Brady on Friday (4/5) and came away with a convincing victory. They also defeated Comfort on Thursday, April 11. They will close out their district schedule in Florence on Monday, April 15 before heading into the playoffs.
Baseball
Varsity Baseball traveled to Brady on Friday (4/5) to start the second half of district and returned with a win. They also defeated Comfort on Friday (April 12) to remain undefeated in district play. The team will travel to Florence Monday (April 15).
Tennis
Blanco will host a JV tournament on April 10 and a Varsity tournament on April 11. The District Tournament will be in Ingram on April 22 and 23.
Attendance is important especially in the Spring with testing and all of the activites going on. With that in mind, we want to congratulate the Freshman Class for having the highest attendance in the district last week. The attendance flag flew over BHS this week. Great job freshmen!
Construction Update
The pad is complete for the Educational Center for the Arts. The first round of concrete for the foundation was poured (Friday 3/22). The remaining concrete slab will be done in stages and not all at once. Bricks are on site, and the walls of the ECA will be going up soon. The ECA is scheduled to be completed in the Spring of 2025.
Things are progressing with the field house. Preparations are bring made for the concrete slab to be poured. The field house should be ready early in the upcoming football season.

Fans can also download the Home Town Ticketing app to their smartphone and order tickets through the app.
Tickets are usually available for purchase 3-5 days prior to the contest. In person (cash) tickets will not be available at the gate/door.
This will only apply to BISD HOME games. We have no control over how other schools sell their tickets. If other venues require online ticketing, we will provide that information as soon as we have it.
