A Message from Mrs. Stauffer
Dear Rainbow Families,
Rainbow has a busy and festive week of fall activities! This week, we will celebrate Red Ribbon Week. This year's theme is, Life is a Movie, Film Drug Free." During the week there will be a building-wide coloring contest, and 1 winner will be recognized per grade level.” Please participate in the following school spirit activities:
Monday, 10/28 ~ “Put a Cap on Drugs”
Wear a hat.
Tuesday, 10/29 ~ “Support a Healthy Body”
Wear the color pink to support breast cancer awareness.
Wednesday, 10/30 - “Sock It to Drugs”
Wear crazy socks.
Thursday, 10/31 – “Say Boo to Drugs!”
Students may wear costumes to school.
**Please be sure costumes are school-appropriate (no gore, weapons, capes, hoods, or complete face coverings).**
Friday, 11/1 - “Peace Out to Drugs”
Wear tie dye shirts.
We will be celebrating school and classroom Fall Festivities on Thursday, October 31st. Your child’s teacher has provided you with Fall Festivities information. If you are donating a treat for classroom festivities, all treat donations must be store bought. Individually wrapped items such as individual bags of pretzels or Rice Krispie treats are preferred.
Our Fall Festivities coincide with Red Ribbon Spirit Week. On Thursday, October 31st, our theme is “Say BOO to Drugs!” Students may wear a costume to school to participate in “Say BOO to Drugs!” Spirit Day. Students can wear their costumes to school in the morning and enjoy wearing them all day! Because students will be wearing costumes all day, be mindful of costumes and bathroom usage. Please be sure costumes are school appropriate (no gore, weapons, or complete face coverings) If your child plans to wear any face paint it must be applied at home before the start of school.
We will be having a “Say BOO to Drugs!” costume parade at school. Students from Kindergarten-5th Grade will be showing off their costumes during a parade. Be sure that your student wears comfortable shoes and appropriate clothing because, weather permitting, the parade will be outside. If it rains, the parade will not be held. The parade will start at 1:30 PM. Parents are welcome to come and watch the parade that will take place on the back playground. We ask that parents do not enter the building for parties unless they are a designated homeroom parent. If you plan on picking your student up from school immediately following the parade, an early dismissal note must be submitted to the main office the morning of October 31st. Please understand that classroom festivities will continue after the parade.
Here is our parade schedule:
Fifth Grade: 1:30 PM
Fourth Grade: 1:50 PM
Third Grade: 2:10 PM
Second Grade: 2:30 PM
First Grade: 2:50 PM
Kindergarten: 3:10 PM
If you have any questions, please contact your child’s teacher. If you wish that your student does not participate in school and classroom Fall Festivities on October 31st, please contact your child’s teacher and an alternative activity will be provided.
Kind Regards,
Mrs. Stauffer
Message from the Nurse
Hello Parents and Guardians,
I am happy to be a part of the Rainbow Faculty. This is my 7th year in Coatesville School District. I have been getting to know the students at Rainbow. If you have any questions, please let me know.
I also have some reminders regarding your student's health:
Kindergarten Student: Kindergarten Students need to have a Dental and Physical Exam on file. If you haven't submitted them yet, please send them into me . They can be dated as far back as September of 2023.
It is also very important for your student to be current with their immunizations. I will contact you if they need any immunizations.
Regarding illness:
When students are sent home after diarrhea, vomiting or fever, they need to be 24 hours fever free before returning to school.
Please keep students home if they have a fever of 99.8 or above, or having vomiting or diarrhea

Students need a parent note if they have been absent 1 to 2 days.
Regarding Medication:

Volunteer and Field Trip Chaperone Information
Dear Rainbow Families,
As the school year is underway, I would like to inform you of the Coatesville Area School District school board approved policy No.916: Volunteers. The purpose of this policy is to recognize that volunteers can make valuable contributions to the school district. All schools within the district encourage the use of volunteers subject to the requirements of Applicable Law and this policy.
There are two distinct definitions within the policy regarding volunteers and helpers.
· Volunteer: an adult applying for or performing an unpaid position as a volunteer who is responsible for the welfare of a child or children or having direct contact with children. A volunteer may supervise students without the presence of a teacher or certified paraprofessional. Volunteers may undertake activities such as: field trip chaperones, tutoring students, and assisting before, during or after school activities.
· Helper: an adult who provides help or assistance in an event or function, but who does not meet the definition of a volunteer whereas the helper is not responsible for the welfare, care, supervision, guidance or control of a child or children independently of a teacher or certified paraprofessional. Helpers may undertake activities such as: class part, cafeteria help, material preparation, assisting a teacher in the classroom.
Adults who meet the definition of a volunteer under Applicable Law or under this policy shall be required to complete a registration/disclosure form and provide the following:
a) Act 34 State Police History Report
This clearance is free of charge to volunteers and can be found online at https://epatch.state.pa.us/Home.jsp
b) Act 151 Child Abuse Clearance Statement
This clearance is free of charge to volunteers and can be found online at https://www.compass.state.pa.us/cwis/public/home.
c) Act 114 FBI Background Check (not required if you have been a PA resident during the entirety of the previous 10 year period) Ø The cost of this clearance is $22.60 https://uenroll.identogo.com/workflows/1KG6XN
d) Tuberculosis Test
Helpers need only to have their photo identification scanned into our Navigate 360 Visitor Management upon entering the school building.
Kind Regards,
Mrs. Stauffer
