Principal's Message
Dear Sandyston Community,
Please be sure to join us for our second annual Sandyston Walpack Education Foundation Fall Festival this Sunday from 1-3pm. See the flyer below for more information.
FRIENDLY REMINDER - school picture day is next week on Thursday, October 3.
I am excited to announce our upcoming Career Day event, which will take place on Friday, January 25, 2025. This is a wonderful opportunity for our students to begin exploring the wide variety of career options that await them in the future. We believe it is essential for elementary students to be exposed to different professions early on, as it helps spark curiosity, expand their understanding of the world, and inspire them to pursue their dreams.
We are reaching out to ask for volunteers who would be willing to share their career experiences with our students. We are especially interested in hearing from Sandyston-Walpack residents, or family members of residents or staff members who can provide insights into their professional journeys. Whether you work in healthcare, technology, law enforcement, education, trades, business, or any other field, your participation will help broaden our students' horizons and provide them with real-life examples of the many paths they can follow.
Additionally, we want to extend our gratitude to the Sandyston Walpack Education Foundation (SWEF) for their support of this community-wide event. Their commitment to enhancing our students' educational experience is invaluable, and we are grateful for their continued partnership.
If you are a Sandyston resident, a family member of a resident, or family member of school staff who is interested in volunteering for Career Day please click here to fill out this survey. We look forward to this exciting day of learning and inspiration for our students!

As an extension of the monthly principal read aloud, Mrs. Wesighan's third and fourth grade classes created their own kindness rocks to showcase that there is always room for everyone at SWS!
Preschool takes time each morning to do the Pledge of Allegiance together.
Second grade works on an extension project of the read aloud Harold and the Purple Crayon.
Kindergarten learns all about apples. Kindergarten readers are also getting more comfortable with reading workshop time.
First grade welcomes Penny the caterpillar to their classroom.
Above, 5th grade readers choose where and how to enjoy their choice reading books, then jot their thinking on post it notes. Below, 5th grade mathematicians enjoy reviewing for a test by playing a game in partnerships - students solved questions then strategically placed their number on a board to be the winner.
