Los Pen NEUs
November 1, 2024
From the Desk of Mrs. Weekes
Dear Los Pen Families,
It was a great turnout this morning at Friday Flag, where we made some exciting announcements. The San Diego Harmonics, a local non-profit group, donated $2000 to LPES, which will go toward supporting our 5th grade Band/Orchestra program. Additionally, we announced the amazing news that because of the amount of money raised by PTA and donated by LPES families during The Big Give, the remainder of assemblies and the majority of field trip costs for the rest of this school year will be covered!
Our Candy Buy-Back event is happening now, November 1st through Tuesday, November 5th. Bring your Halloween candy to the black bin in the front office. Candy will be collected by Sunray Pediatric Dentistry, who will pay Los Pen $0.50 per every pound of candy collected! The candy collected will be shipped to US troops overseas.
We will also be accepting any unwanted Halloween costumes, so that we may offer these to students in need next school year.
Thank you for continuing to support our Los Pen community!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Weekes
Safety Reminders
With fire season upon us we want to assure parents and guardians that we have appropriate response systems in place when emergencies arise. Our first priority will always be the safety of our students and staff on campus.
When LPES becomes aware of any incidents in the geographic area of the school site, we will focus first on the safety of our campus while working with law enforcement, emergency responders, and the District for guidance and support for communication. Communication with parents is part of the response plan, but will be secondary to immediate safety. As soon as we can, we will message families with details of school-wide incidents such as lockdowns or evacuations. Please ensure your contact information is up to date in ParentVue in the “My Account” section.
Finally, we have been asked by first responders to remind our families NOT to come to campus in times of emergency – there have been several instances when officers, firefighters, and their ability to respond to the emergency have been hindered by parents rushing to the scene. Should an emergency occur, we will send out messages about dismissal or reunification procedures for families when first responders indicate it is safe to do so.
LPES Lost & Found
Are you missing a jacket, sweater, water bottle, or lunch box?
It may be in our Lost & Found! Our Office Staff is happy to reunite items with their owners when items are labeled with student names. Kindly note that items in our Lost & Found are cleared at the end of every month and donated. Please label your student's belongings and check our Lost & Found frequently if your student is missing an item.
Los Pen Running Club Updates
