SAFE SCHOOL NOTICE
EARLY PICK-UP REMINDER
Early pick-ups not only cause disruption of the flow of the building. However it hinders your scholar’s academic progression because they will miss important instruction. To prevent the loss of instructional time, early pick up will end at 3:00 P.M. Scholars will be released to the parents in the pick-up line at 3:30 pm. Walkers will be released at 3:30 pm.
Important Update: New Background Check Process for Campus Volunteers and Chaperones -
What’s Changing?
Effective immediately, all campus volunteers and chaperones will be required to complete fingerprinting through the Michigan State Police. This change is mandatory and aligns with updated state regulations to ensure the highest level of safety and security for our students and staff.
What Volunteers Need to Know:
- Volunteers must now undergo fingerprinting as part of their background check.
- This fingerprinting process will be conducted by Identogo on behalf of the Michigan State Police.
- There is a cost associated with the fingerprinting, which volunteers will be responsible for covering.
Once submitted, please check your inbox or spam for the email to complete the process. Please be advised that the request for documentation is time-sensitive and will expire if not completed in a timely fashion.
PARKING LOT SAFETY
Please be mindful of the cars in the car pick up line during morning entry and dismissal. The parking lot is designed for cars to drive to the left of the lot and circle around. Driving the opposite direction is dangerous and puts too many people in harm's way. When everyone follows the same path, entry and dismissal can move efficiently. We want everyone to arrive and leave safely. Most importantly, we want to keep our children safe. Also, we ask that our visitors do not block the gym door or the main entrance door with your vehicles, as we have deliveries entering Door #1. Please utilize the parking spaces to ensure everyone's safety. Thank you for understanding.
THE IMPORTANCE OF ATTENDANCE and CHRONIC ABSENCES
Attendance is extremely important here at DCP-REDFORD. Everyday of school missed is a great deal of information to catch up on for a scholar. Please give your child the best opportunity to be successful and send them to school each day, on time.
Chronic absenteeism is a big problem for most schools. Did you know that if a student has a 90% attendance rate they are considered chronically absent? That means they have missed at least 18 days of school. We must begin to correct this trend for the students here at DCPR. Please help us in our goal of decreasing the number of students that are considered chronically absent.
Behavioral Expectations
- Disciplinary Code - DCP Redford has adopted a new Disciplinary Code of Conduct that outlines violations and consequences, which will be implemented and enforced this school year. Each family should have received a copy, as well as the acknowledgement page that must be signed and returned. If you need a copy, please contact our office.
- Cell Phone Policy - Families, please remind your scholars that cell phones and other electronic devices that have not been issued by DCPR will not be allowed during school hours. You should have received a copy of the policy, which includes the procedures for turning phones in at the start of the day. All phones should be turned in to Dean Key upon arrival to the building and will be returned before dismissal.
REPORT CARD DISTRIBUTION
Report Cards will be distributed and sent home with scholars on Friday, October 25th.
Please be sure to check your scholars backpack.
