CRMS First Day Update

CRMS Families,

Today was a fantastic start to the school year at Camp Road! It was wonderful to see our students back on campus, full of energy and ready to learn. Below, you'll find some important information about the papers that were sent home today, along with a few other updates.

I want to express my gratitude for your continued support as we kick off the new school year. We know that the beginning of the year can bring a few challenges, but I truly appreciate the compassion, kindness, and grace our community always shows in every situation.

As mentioned in my earlier email, we experienced a false fire alarm today due to some burnt food in a microwave. I want to commend our CRMS team for their swift response in assessing the situation. Thanks to their quick action, we were able to determine there was no danger for students and staff and to continue our school day with minimal disruption.

We are excited for the rest of our first week!

Our middle school library serves students with a wide range of academic and recreational reading needs. There is a significant difference in the maturity and interests of students between grades six and eight. All of our school library books are carefully vetted, and we rely on our district library materials selection guidelines and professional library review sources to provide relevant books for all our students.

Some of our books have YA (young adult) labels on the spines to indicate books that have content and themes that might have greater appeal or relevance to more mature readers. These books often feature older characters, and they may contain language or references to mental health, drugs, alcohol, violence, sexual situations, complex choices, or similar.

We want to make sure all students have access to the books they need and are interested in as well as books that are the right fit for your family. If you would prefer your child not check out any materials considered YA, please complete this form and discuss this decision with your child. A note will be added to your child’s library account about this preference. If you’d like to make a change, this preference can be updated at any time throughout the school year.

A paper copy of the CRMS Student Technology Agreement was sent home with your child today. Please read through this agreement and send it back signed by Friday, August 16. Students must return this form before a Chromebook will be assigned.

Chromebooks will be assigned to students starting next week.

A paper copy of the Yondr survey was sent home today. You can complete the paper copy and return it to your child's homeroom teacher by Friday or you can complete the digital survey here.

Please review the map below. The parts of the car rider line that are red are single lane. The parts of the car rider line that are green are double lane portions. Please ensure that you are using both lanes during arrival and dismissal. This will help us relieve the traffic on Camp Rd and Folly Rd in both the morning and afternoon.

Many of our students were unsure of their bus route at the end of the day today. Please use the CCSD Bus Look Up Tool to ensure that your child will get on the correct bus and to ensure that they know their bus route.
