Viking News!
Week of 4/21 through 4/25
Hello MTV Families,
I hope you had a great weekend. Here is information for the week, beginning with an important reminder from our school and local law enforcement.
WE NEED YOUR HELP: We have recently noticed (and local law enforcement has received calls about) an increase in vehicles speeding on streets around our school and in our school parking lot during school hours (including right before and right after school). This is an obvious safety risk for our students, families, and staff as they come to and from Mt. View. We know this could be anyone, but we wanted our families and staff to do their part to make sure our roads and parking lots are safe. In speaking with local law enforcement today, citations will be given to those people that cannot travel on our roads and in our parking lot at a safe speed. In addition to traveling at a safe speed, we also ask that students are not picked up or dropped off out of the second lane in our parking lot. That is the purpose of the lane closest to our school.
I know the streets close to Mt. View and our parking lot can be a crowded mess at times and that we are all busy, but no amount of rushing would be worth something tragic happening. Your kids are our top priority and together, we can make sure they are safe. We appreciate your help and cooperation.
Important items/events for this week:
- The MTV Book Fair begins on 4/22 and runs through 4/29. Students will be able to buy books during their library specialist time and students can come to the book fair after school (3:30) with parents/guardians.
- This Wednesday (4/23) there is a 2:00 PM student dismissal.
- This Thursday (4/24) is Spring Picture Day! (class and individual pictures)
- This morning, we had a great assembly centered around working hard, having a positive attitude and persevering. The message was from a world champion rope jumper who was at MTV all day providing workshops for each grade level. I am mentioning this because I wanted to thank our PTSO for making this possible and for also providing each MTV student with a jump rope (which will come home today). Ask your student about the assembly and workshop!
Thank you and have a great week!
