Mrs. Texeira and NHD Projects
Mrs. Texeira has led a group of students this school year in research leading to a culminating project for National History Day. She asked me to team up with her and I eagerly jumped at the chance. The theme of NHD for the 2022-2023 school year is Frontiers in History: People, Places, Ideas. We gathered books for students to look through to inspire ideas. Students decided on a question they wanted to answer and began researching using our databases, books, and beyond.
Some students decided to showcase what they have learned with tri-fold boards. One student created a documentary, and one student created a website. All were required to write a process paper and an annotated bibliography using the Chicago citation format as historians do.
We would like to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of Christian Smith (grade 8), Julianna Danko (grade 8), Olli Taub (grade 7), Allyster Green (grade 6), and Benjamin Spencer (grade 6). These five students are meeting Ms. Texeira and me at Toll Gate High School on Saturday, April 1st to be judged on their entries.
Book Tasting with Orange Cluster
On Thursday, March 30th, Orange Cluster students got the chance to create "TBR" (to be read) lists when perusing the new titles recently added to our collection. Students placed holds through Destiny Discover for titles they would like to read.
RIMSBA Voting Time
If you are a middle school student who has read at least 3 titles on the 2023 RI Middle School Book Award nominee list, you are eligible to vote. Please drop by the library to cast your ballot!
