Final Nine Weeks

8 Class Days Left to Finish Projects

We had a good turnout on our Friday workday; about 25 students came in and made great progress.

We have 8 class days before Challenge of the Mind and only 8 other class days. (note: I just found out that we're losing another day to choir. Those students will only have 7 class days to finish their projects and will also miss a daily assignment that will need to be made up.)

That's 16 days and the district requires us to have 10 daily grades and 4 major grades. The major grades will come from Challenge of the Mind (paper and mask/ car), an outside creative project, and another in-class project. The daily grades will come from "entrance tickets" (quick five-minute activities at the beginning of class), picture updates of their projects, a short essay, and one more ThinkCerca multiple-choice assignment.

And before we know it, the semester will be over.

We have 17 class days left for 2nd period and 18 for 7th and 8th.

Because we have to have 14 grades total (10 daily/ 4 major), we will pretty much need to have an assignment every day.

The kids take the Reading STAAR test on Wednesday, April 9. After that, we're supposed to do a novel study. However, there will only be 11 class days remaining, and that's not much time to read a novel. Plus, the school doesn't have enough novel sets to do that. In the past, we studied mythology, and we might do that again.

Whatever we do, there will be plenty of time to get all the grades we need; again, aiming for one a day.

CCR will have 18 class days to complete 10 daily assignments and 4 major ones. This won't be a problem.
