Boyden Weekly Update
November 1, 2024
Parking at Terrace Hill Cemetery
The Town of Walpole would like to remind families not to park at the Terrace Hill Cemetery during school arrival of dismissal. This needs to be kept clear for families who are visiting loved ones. Thank you for understanding.
Conferences
This year parent-teacher conferences will be held on
- Tuesday, November 12th (5:00 - 7:00 PM)
- Thursday, November 14th (5:00 - 7:00 PM)
- Friday, November 15th (1:00 - 3:00 PM)
If you are a parent with more than one child at Boyden, please allow for at least 10 minutes between your conferences. We have found that back-to-back conferences do not allow for travel from classroom to classroom.
If you have a Grade 4 or Grade 5 student please sign up with their CLASSROOM TEACHER ONLY.
Please locate the teachers name, click on the link on the right and sign up for the day/time you would like. All our classroom teachers and specialists are listed.
What are the Students Learning in PE?
K: Our Kindergarten classes have been working on locomotor/non locomotor games over the past few weeks in PE. We are building strong foundations for future PE activities through games and activities while learning running, skipping, galloping and other movements. Our Kindergarten students have also learned to use a variety of equipment while having fun learning these skills.
1st: Our 1st grade classes have also been working on locomotor/non locomotor games over the
past few weeks in PE. These classes are strengthening their foundations for future PE
activities/sports through games and activities involving locomotor movements.
2nd: My second grade PE classes are now working on throwing and catching through games
and activities. Classes are focusing on using correct throwing motions all while playing these
games/activities.
3rd: Third graders have successfully wrapped up their first ever Quidditch Unit! There are a
variety of skills that are learned while playing this game. Classes then transitioned over to hand-
eye coordination activities.
4th: Fourth graders have also wrapped up Quidditch this week. Having played Quidditch in third,
made this game even more interesting as they really pick up the skills! Fourth grade also
worked on hand-eye coordination games in the closing weeks of October.
5th: My fifth graders have also wrapped up Quidditch Unit this week. Having worked the longest
on the game of Quidditch the longest, it has been amazing to see them play! We closed the
month of October with some throwing activities.
October's Sportsperson of the Month
The "Sportsperson of the Month" goes to a student at each grade level going above and beyond in Physical Education Class. This includes(but is not limited to) following the rules of the game, being safe, respectful of other students, taking care of the equipment, and playing fair.
