Meeting Recap
The District 146 Board of Education held its regular monthly meeting at 6 p.m. on Monday, June 3 at the Robert Procunier Administration Center in Tinley Park.
During the meeting, the Board heard the following from Superintendent Dr. Jeff Stawick:
- Tuesday, June 4 is the last day of the school year. It is a half-day for students.
- Dr. Stawick congratulated all of the 8th Grade Graduates and their families.
- The Board, Dr. Stawick, and Jeff Charleston have all been registered to attend the Joint Annual Conference November 22-24.
- The District’s Early Learning Program will receive a one-time hardship funding award for fiscal year 2024. The District will apply to receive the full $418,467 for which it is eligible.
- The CMS 7th grade boys, 7th grade girls, and 8th grade girls track teams all took first place at this year’s SWIC Conference track meet. Dr. Stawick congratulated all of the athletes and coaches.
- The CMS Roofing Project is scheduled to begin on June 5. The project will be completed in two phases with the first taking four to five weeks. The second phase will begin six to eight weeks later after the cure time is finished.
- The Food Service RFP with other school districts is moving forward. Proposals are due June 10. A Special Board Meeting will be needed to approve the selected proposal later this month.
- The Southwest Cooperative’s Destiny Program Extended School Year (ESY) will be held at Memorial this summer. The program will be in session from June 7 to June 28.
- District 146 is hosting ESY and Summer Intervention Programs again this year. The programs will begin on July 8 and end on August 1.
The Board also heard the following:
- The president of the ESP Union reported a successful and fun year for all of their staff. Many members are participating in and looking forward to the ESY program.
- The Policy and Governance Committee has suggested policy updates following a meeting on May 31. The Board will be asked to approve the policy changes at the August meeting.
The Board took the following action at the meeting:
- Approved the Collective Bargaining Agreement with the Custodial/Maintenance Union.
- Approved a two-year contract renewal with ABC Bus Company for General Education Transportation Services.
- Approved the project to replace carpeting at the Administration Center.
- Approved a resolution naming Franczek Radelet P.C., as the District's legal representative in all 2023-2025 Property Tax Appeal Board appeals proceedings.
- Approved the Kruse Education Center Title I Schoolwide Plan.
- Approved Board participation in professional development programs. School Code requires the Board attend these sessions and approve the expenditures annually.
Before adjourning, the Board met in closed session to discuss personnel matters.

Next Board Meeting
The next regular Board of Education meeting will be held at 6 p.m. on August 12, 2024. The meeting will be held at the Robert Procunier Administration Center, 6611 W. 171st Street in Tinley Park .
