Spring Band and Chorus Concert
We had a lovely Spring Band and Chorus concert last week! Thank you to Mrs. Cacko for training our students on the recorders, xylophones and the beautiful singing of our chorus, to Ms. Etter for the many hours of band practice and to Mrs. Davis for her beautiful piano accompaniment. Our students showed tremendous growth and sounded wonderful!
Teacher Appreciation Week
Thank you to our HSA and amazing families!
Hey Parents! This is how the teachers felt last week when you spoiled us! We wanted to flip with excitement when we saw the sweet chalk messages, were surprised with a cart full of useful goodies, ate a delicious catered lunch, received thank you cards and beautiful flowers, and sipped on beverages from the espresso truck. Thank you to our fantastic HSA board, parents, and students who made us feel so special during Teacher Appreciation Week. We are blessed!

Field Days are Coming!
We look forward to a day of fun with the many activities that Mrs. Stewart has planned for our students. The Field Days will be split into two groups. Most activities are outside so please be sure to put sunblock on your child at home before school.
- Tuesday, May 23: Grades K-5
- Tuesday, May 30: Grades 6-8
**Wheeled Coolers are needed (to borrow) for the May 30th Field Day. Thank you for sending yours in labeled with your name for us to use that day. **
K-5 Field Day
Remember to apply sunblock on your child at home before school next Tuesday, May 23rd for the K-5th grade Field Day. Hats are acceptable to wear outside to stay protected from the sun. Students may wear Tag Day clothes (no white shirts please). Flip flops and crocs are not allowed. Students will change into PE uniforms immediately after Field Day.
Middle School Field Day
Students in grades 6-8 will enjoy their Field Day when we return from our Memorial Day weekend. On Tuesday, May 30th, please have your middle school children wear Tag Day clothes with a colored (non-white) shirt and sneakers (flip flops and crocs are not permitted). Students will be participating in water activities so PE uniforms must be sent in so students can change and then participate in their classes for the remainder of the day.
SMR Math Tutoring Program Completed
The after school Math Tutoring Program offered by St. Mary's Ryken students on Tuesdays has been completed for this year. Be on the lookout next year when they hope to resume again.
Return Library Books
It's time to start looking for all Father Andrew White School library books so they can be returned by the end of the school year. Sometimes our school library books get mixed in with your home library ones, so be sure to check all around your house. Thank you for helping your children find these books!
Annual Giving Campaign
Our Annual Giving Campaign this year will focus on our building safety and the installation of safety film. We will combine giving campaign funds with grant funding to achieve this goal. We have several other safety projects as well (door alarms to notify us if a door is ajar, modifications to our vestibule window, and an additional security camera). Please assist us in any way that you are able. A letter will be forthcoming. We appreciate your support in our continued efforts towards safety.
Progress Reports
Reports for grades 4-8 were posted to the portal last Tuesday. We ask you to please keep in mind that we still have new lessons to teach and work to accomplish. We hope you will support us in encouraging the children to keep studying and to continue to make their school work a priority.

RaiseRight Gift Card Program UPDATE
We are officially underway in the next RaiseRight year, that started on April 1st. For all returning families for the upcoming 2023-2024 school year, there is a RaiseRight requirement to earn a minimum $50. For those that are unfamiliar with this program we will be sending more information on how you can get started.
In summary it is a gift card program in which you buy gift cards for your everyday shopping: that coffee addiction, vacation, cruises, dining out and gas! Each card has a rebate amount that you can earn and those earnings go back to the school until you have met your $50 minimum requirement. After that $50 minimum requirement is met, anything you earn over and above gets a 75/25 split between you and the school respectively. The earnings that go to you can be applied for next school year’s tuition or to the eighth grade field trip. This past school year we had multiple families earning back a collective total of $4,600 that will be applied to next school year's tuition.
Gift card fundraising is an excellent fundraiser because there’s no selling, no extra time and no extra money. It is simply changing the way we pay for our purchases. The best part is that there is endless earning potential as there is no limit to how much money we can raise. You make money for the school and yourself. I call that a win win!!
Happy Shopping,
Jessica Casto

Have you ever awakened to find one of your eyes seemingly glued shut or "crusted over"? If so, chances are you probably had conjunctivitis, or pink eye. Unfortunately, this ailment is quite common as it is easily transmitted through contact with eye secretions. It can be bacterial or viral, but the treatment for both is to clean the eye by rinsing with saline or using lubricating eye drops and cold compresses. It's always a good idea to see the doctor, especially if there is pain involved as well. Sometimes doctors prescribe antibiotic drops, but often they are not necessary, as the conjunctivitis eventually clears on its own. One way to think of it is that it is like having a cold, only the virus is in your eye instead of your airway. So just like with a cold, while it is running its course, you should treat the symptoms and practice good hygiene to hasten healing and prevent spreading.
