Library Updates
KSD Library Plan: The newest library plan was passed by the school board at the April 11th board meeting. You can view the plan here if you are interested in learning about all the library program is doing and hopes to accomplish over the next 4-5 years.
Golden Archer Award: The deadline for your students to nominate books for next year's Golden Archer award is May 1st. The links to nominate eligible books at each of the four age levels are located on the Golden Archer page of the library website.
Public Library Summer Reading visits: Kim Kluge, the children's librarian at the Kewaskum Public Library, will be visiting KES on May 14th and FES on May 15th. She will be presenting with Mr. Mayer on all the different options our students have to read during the summer. Here are the grade level schedules for KES and FES for that day.
New Public Library Location: As of April 2nd, the Kewaskum Public Library is located in the old PNC Bank Building on Fond du lac Avenue. Their phone number has also changed to 262-667-2930. Please see their website for any additional information.
New Library Books of the Month
Each month, 16 new library books will be highlighted in this section. There will be four books each for the high school, middle school, elementary intermediate, and elementary primary levels. Click on the links below to see the books for April & May.
Library Resources of the Month
Each month, three library resources are highlighted in this area. Here are the resources for April & May. All three are located in your Library Resources folder on Classlink.
PBS Wisconsin Education includes both a Classroom Media section and a Professional Development section. Classroom Media activates technology to serve learners and educators because learning happens everywhere. It is free to use, standards-aligned, Wisconsin-focused media for grades PreK-12, including videos, games, interactive content, educator guides, and more. It's created with and for educators and learners. Professional Development amplifies your expertise--along with best practices in education--to nurture learning in Wisconsin's classrooms, virtual environments, and neighborhoods.
Gale in Context Elementary is a content-rich, authoritative, easy-to-use resource featuring age-appropriate, reliable, curriculum-related content covering a broad range of educational topics. It features a new, modern, graphical interface and improved navigation that helps kids explore and gain comfort with database searching.
American History in Video is a brand new resource for our district that is designed specifically for teaching and research, packed with features that help you find, view, share, and analyze. It includes 1,600 total hours of streaming video content, more than half of which is contemporaneous video from the 1890s to the 1980s. It also includes hundreds of the documentaries most frequently used in history classrooms, from leading video content producers such as PBS, California Newsreel, Pennebaker Hegedus Films, and others.
