A Message from the Board of Education
On October 3, 2024, the MRH Board of Education received its first updates from building leaders. We are excited and proud to report that the hard work of students, teachers, staff, principals and administration is paying off.
We noticed some remarkable improvements across the buildings. While there are still plenty of challenges facing our learners, we were encouraged by the well-defined strategies to shore up the gaps. Our teachers, counselors and building leaders are taking proactive steps to build on their successes. The full presentation is available online.
In short, the 2024-25 school year is off to a terrific start. When you see your student, a teacher, staff member, counselor, nurse, building leader, or administrator be sure to give them a high five, fist bump, Vulcan greeting, or whatever the kids are doing these days. They deserve it!
Play a Role in Strategic Planning, Budgeting
The MRH Board of Education offers myriad ways for you to become involved in key decision-making across the District. Here's how to get started:
- Review this budget presentation on our website, then take a few moments to complete this VERY SHORT survey asking for your preferred areas of emphasis for District spending.
- Consider joining any of several Strategic Plan advisory committees by filling out our online form. The committees are linked to the 5 keys sections of the Plan: "For Our Students, Our People, Our Health, Our Resources, and Our Community."
Stay Current and Active With Your School Board
MRH is using an all-new platform for Board of Education agendas and supporting documents. Simbli offers superior content search features, related resources and general information about your Board.
MRH is still in the process of transitioning archival Board of Education meeting notices, agendas and related records to the new Simbli platform; meantime, you will still find archival material on the BoardDocs website.
View upcoming meeting agendas and minutes online via Simbli.

Students Who Receive Special Education Services Invited to Take SSD Survey
Special School District values the academic and personal well-being of its students and prioritizes making data-informed decisions to support their success. In collaboration with Panorama Education, MRH students who receive special education services in grades 3-12 are invited to share their voices through two surveys: a climate survey and a social-emotional learning (SEL) survey.
The surveys will be given during the fall and spring of the 2024-25 school year, with the fall survey window being Sept. 18 through Oct. 18. The surveys will be administered electronically, but PDF versions can be previewed on SSD's website.
Time Capsule Unearthed by Past and Present Alt Ed Students
It's not always what's INSIDE the time capsule, but it's the fun of digging it up.
Ten years ago, one of Bill Pott's first projects as an Alternative Education teacher at MRH was to help students bury a time capsule in the back yard of the house formerly known as the Student Success Center. On October 4, Mr. Pott and his students were joined by one of the students who originally filled and buried the time capsule, Reilly Mohr (in the yellow jumper). After considerable effort with shovels and bare hands, the capsule came loose... and revealed a wristwatch, a stopwatch, an X-Box 360 video game, an Ed Hardy sweatshirt (Google it), a book about basketball and type-written notes from two students.
Why unearth the capsule now? Because the Alternative Education program has outstanding new spaces in the High School addition, and the former Student Success Center building will go up for sale to add housing stock to the community.
The Blue Devil Spotlight for October 7
This week, the Blue Devil shines his spotlight on MRH freshman Beatrice Schmidt. For the second year in a row, Beatrice completed the MS Challenge Walk in Door County, Wisconsin. She covered 50 miles in a 3-day span to raise money and awareness for Multiple Sclerosis research. Along with her sister Lucy (who stayed home this time to participate in Homecoming), they helped her team raise more than $9,000 this year. Why is this cause so meaningful to her and her family? Beatrice's father was diagnosed with MS three years ago. Beatrice and her family are shining examples of what it means to belong to a caring community.
