December Cornerstone: Learning & Literacy
In December, we are celebrating our cornerstone of learning and literacy. We would love to hear who has helped your child to develop a love of learning or reading. Please go to d93.org/literacy_nomination to tell us who has exemplified this cornerstone.
The Education Foundation had a wonderful year in 2022. Just this past weekend 1st grade students in the district decorated luminary bags that were displayed along the path to the gazebo in McCowin park. They were lit as part of the Ammon Lightapoloza Light Parade and Park Lighting and the students did a phenomenal job.
In May, we held our inaugural Dining with the Distinguished event to honor 21 seniors who have overcome diversity and displayed the characteristics of a distinguished individual. Along with those 21 seniors, we also recognized and honored 21 educators who were nominated by the seniors as someone who had impacted their educational journey. We are looking forward to making this dinner an annual event.
The Education Foundation continues to grow and we have many goals and aspirations for our future. Our goal moving forward is to hold biannual grant cycles for teachers to help support various educational activities within their classrooms, create and fund scholarships for our students and continue to build a strong relationship with our community to continue supporting the amazing education happening within our school district.
If you are interested in finding a way to support the Education Foundation either through monetary donations or by volunteering your time and or resources, we would love to have you help our growing community. You can donate through our website by going to the D93 homepage. Under the "About D93" dropdown menu or you can reach out to Deana Graham the Executive Director of the foundation at grahamd@d93mail.com.
