CMS Toppers: News From the Middle!
8.25.24
Caroff's Corner
The word TEAM comes to mind as I write the opening message this week. Our teams on the athletic field, our teams during choral and band/orchestra concerts and mostly important the team you are part of in your child's education are of the utmost importance.
Open House at CMS was a success thanks to your engagement with our staff and your presence in the building! We appreciate you taking the time out of your busy schedules to come and hear about what your child will be learning this year at the middle school and how we want to partner with you in making this an absolutely awesome year!
Some highlights from the week are below! Topper Up!
- Construction of sailboats in STEM classes
- Visiting math-centric websites in fourth grade that students could select based upon a skill they wished to improve upon
- Reading music during Band rehearsal, knowing when to extend a note vs. recognizing a rest on each staff
- Understanding why a hypothesis is an important part of the scientific process
It's extremely important to close with a HUGE THANK YOU to our outstanding PTO and volunteers who made another memorable day at the Back 2 School Bash for our students this past Friday. Sincere appreciation goes out to all who came to assist our students in having a blast (and to the brave staff who went in the Dunk Tank)!
Have an outstanding week ahead! A reminder to all that there will be no school on Friday due to a Professional Development Day for the entire district.
Keep smiling Topper families!
Craig Caroff
Reminders from Mr. Caroff and Ms. Paroubek
A few reminders from our Administrative Team:
1. Thank you for having your child exit the car on the sidewalk side closest to the building for safety reasons.
2. Dress code reminder: shorts are great on these hot days - let's make sure they are appropriate length. When in doubt - ask "Are you comfortable in them when sitting down?" Thanks so much!

Clinic Updates from Ms. Jenn
Hello and welcome to the 2024-2025 school year!
I am so excited to return for the 24 -25 school season. I enjoy taking care of your children. If throughout the year you have a medical concerns please feel free to call me. If you email your child's teacher about an injury or a sickness, please also send it to me so I am in the know as well.
Below are a few important items to review:
1.) Immunizations are required in the school setting. Immunization information from your healthcare provider needs to be sent to us and available before 8/28/24. Please call with questions regarding this. Thank you to all who have already sent them in. If you need an exemption form please call me.
2). Vision and hearing screenings will be conducted shortly. If your child saw an eye doctor over the summer, he/she does not need to be screened again. Please let me know. These checks get done on all 5th, 7th, and new-to-district students. Call me if you do not want your child screened.
3.) If your child has a medical plan or needs medication at school, a new plan and new medication order is needed each school year. A doctor or nurse practitioner has to fill out this information. Again, please call the clinic with questions regarding this. I can send appropriate forms home with the child.
4.) Please be mindful of not sending your child to school if the child is exhibiting signs of illness (high temperature, productive cough, vomiting, etc). We want to avoid clusters of illnesses.
5.) If your child gets injured at home or school and ends up in a cast, splint, or crutches, please get a doctor's note about any activity restrictions and treatments that may be needed for me to carry out.
My hours are 7:15 a.m. to 2:50 p.m.
Thank you
Jennifer Trittschuh RN BSN LSN
