Need to Know
'
Student Initiative ~ Grade 7 Lemonade & Cookie Sale: Wow! Many thanks to those of you who were able to support yesterday's fundraiser - to all the bakers who took time out of their busy schedules and to those who stopped by after school to say hello and have a treat. We raised just over $1500 in sales and donations which will all be donated to Colorectal Cancer Canada.
Oka Beach ~ Friday, June 7: All boys (K to 5) should bring a lunch, water bottle, swim suit, sand shoes, towel, spray sunscreen (to reapply), bug spray, hat, and a personal floatation device(life jacket, floaties, etc). All items including clothing must be identified. As always, all boys should be reminded that there is no swimming and that they can only play in water no deeper than their knees. We plan to go regardless of the weather (some of our best trips have taken place when it’s overcast and a bit “chilly”); however, thunderstorms, lightning and heavy rain may change our plans and then we will enjoy a regular school day with our picnic lunch.
Volunteer Appreciation Tea & Coffee: All Selwyn House parent volunteers are asked to join us on Tuesday, June 11 from 8:00 to 9:15 am for a special celebration. Whether you volunteered an hour or 100 hours, please stop by!
Lost and Found!: Reminder that the lost and found items are now displayed in the hallway near the front entrance of the Lucas Building ready to be picked up. Any items remaining on June 20 will be donated.
Summer Camps: Still not sure what to do this summer? Click here to see our summer camp options and to register.
School News: If you have not had a chance to check out the news stories on our webpage, here a few that you may enjoy: Art Fair, Elementary School Athletic Celebration, and ES Track and Field
News from the Library: Every student who attends a school in Westmount can become a member of the Westmount Public Library for free. With membership, kids can participate in the TD Summer Reading Club and maintain their reading skills throughout the summer. Whichever neighbourhood you live in, we encourage you to join the Summer Reading Club at your local library.
Notice from CLSC: Please read this letter from the CLSC regarding services offered during the summer.
Echoes of a Proud Nation Pow Wow in Kahnawake: Families and staff are encouraged to attend this summer’s Pow Wow in Kahnawake (please note that the website has the wrong year indicated but the dates of July 13-14 are correct). As part of our commitment to learn more about Indigenous history and culture, this is a great opportunity to experience a festive event that is open to all! The Grand Entry (dancing and singing) begins at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday and 12 p.m. on Sunday, however, you can expect a long line of cars at the gate if you wait to come later in the day. We suggest arriving around 9:30-10:00 a.m. to avoid the crowds!
Next Update: The next update and last of the year, will be sent with the report cards the week of July 1st. Stay tuned…
