APRIL 2022 / IGSD NEWSLETTER
With Deepest Sympathy
Dear Panthers,
With a heavy heart I am sorry to share that Linda Erickson passed away peacefully at home with her family on March 31st. Arrangements will be forthcoming. The Iowa-Grant School District extends its deepest, most-heartfelt sympathy to John and her family. For a short time, we are all part of the history of our school district. Linda was part of our story and we will miss her.
Once a Panther, Always a Panther.

Introducing Iowa-Grant's 2022 Valedictorian and Salutatorian
Payton Schmitz is the valedictorian of the Class of 2022. He has achieved a high GPA throughout high school and was in many extracurricular activities. He was involved in FBLA, Student Council, Golf, and Academic Decathlon. He credits his parents and teachers for their encouragement and support when things were not easy. They have always taught him to persevere through the difficult times and enjoy the results of hard work. His advice to underclassmen is to maintain a school-life balance and to enjoy high school as much as possible. Set your own priorities and decide what matters to you. After graduation, Payton plans to attend the University of Wisconsin-Platteville with a major in psychology. Payton is the son of Eric and Holly Schmitz of Livingston.

IOWA-GRANT ELEMENTARY/MIDDLE SCHOOL
From the Desk of Mrs. Gallagher
I hope everyone is well-rested and ready to finish the year strong following our spring break! April 4th track will begin for the middle school students. Parent-teacher conferences will also be the week of us coming back to school and there will be no school on Friday, April 8th. A special thank you to our paraeducators that work with our teachers to assist our students. Paraprofessional Appreciation Day is April 6th and April is Occupational Therapy Month. On April 27th is Administrative Assistant’s Day and a special thank you to Christi Kennicker and Danielle Hasburgh in the office for their help each and every day at IGEMS to keep things running smoothly. Also great appreciation to Cheryl Lee and her assistance with pupil services. A thank you as well to Alisha Pelton and Loretta Riemenapp for their roles at the high school and in athletics.
Just a reminder to students and parents, we do participate in a wellness plan and we ask that students not bring sodas in with their lunches. The water fountains will also be turned back on so students will not be needing water bottles anymore in the classrooms. We also will be continuing the trial of the new attendance calls. If students have not been called in for attendance by 8:00 a.m. our system will produce a phone call to parents by 8:30 a.m. As with any new system, there will be kinks along the way. We appreciate your patience as we work to be more efficient in the office. There will also be a new attendance email attendance@igs.k12.wi.us. Please send any attendance-related emails to this address.
Thank you so much for your support.
Check It Out! - IMC News from Mrs. Bast
April is National School Library Month, and April 4-10 is National Library Week; upcoming lessons and shared stories during elementary library visits will celebrate these events as well as National Poetry Month. From nursery rhymes to novels written in free verse, students in kindergarten-4th grade will enjoy a taste of poetry in our school library.
Middle school students will continue working on their mobile app project with the MAD-Learn curriculum. We have completed the ideation and planning phases of the design process and will start the application creation phase following spring break.
A special thank you to Mrs. Marla Simon at the High School and Mrs. Cheryl Lee at IGEMS for their outstanding work in our school libraries. We are so fortunate to have you working with our students!
