Message from Dr. Taylor
Dear MHS Families,
Engaging Students in School Leadership Planning: Empowering the Future
Here at MHS, I believe in nurturing leadership skills and fostering a sense of ownership among our students. This week, I had the privilege of hosting two exceptional junior students, Mason Jerome and Eric Beauchamp, who expressed a keen interest in understanding the inner workings of school administration. Recognizing their enthusiasm, I extended an invitation for them to attend our Building Leadership Team (BLT) meeting on Tuesday.
The BLT meeting served as an invaluable opportunity for Mason and Eric to witness firsthand the collaborative and strategic planning process that takes place behind the scenes. They observed how our dedicated Assistant Principals, Deans, and Directors come together weekly to create a roadmap for our students' success and the overall enhancement of our school environment. Mason and Eric were also able to gained a deeper appreciation for the work that goes into creating a thriving educational environment and undoubtedly inspire other students to step forward and take an active role in shaping our school community!
Have a great weekend Mustangs!

The Welcome Center
The Welcome Center is in need of donations to continue assisting those members of our community that are in need. With the fallout from some of our families being displaced recently by inclement weather, those donations are even more important today. We welcome donations of non-perishable food items, personal hygiene items, soaps, detergents and clothing. To help assist those families in need, we are also accepting gift card donations. Please take a minute to watch this video about how The Welcome Center helps our community.

Experiential Education
Experiential Education describes all opportunities offered to students to give them a chance to explore the world of careers and professions. These include classes like Dual Credit Student Internship, Business INCubator, and Geometry in Construction as well as career treks and featured guest speakers.
MHS Celebrates Its Volunteers & Community Partners
On Tuesday, April 30th, Mundelein High School honored the contributions that over 70 individuals made in shaping the careers and changing the lives of students enrolled in our Honors Student Internship and Honors Business INCubator courses with an early-morning breakfast attended by students, staff, and honorees.
“When joining INCubator, we figured the mentors and coaches would pop in maybe 2 or 3 times each year,” shared senior Evan Niernberg. “However, they constantly showed up for us throughout the entire school year.”
Soon-to-be-graduate Riley Stewart added, “Our coaches were a true demonstration of what it means to be dedicated and passionate about something.” Students can learn volumes about the business world through books and articles, but the only way they can learn about the most important indicator of success and happiness--passion for one’s profession--is through contact with those individuals who make this value a priority.
Each honoree was gifted a personalized plaque fabricated by the students in Manny Aldana’s Computer Integrated Manufacturing course. Photos of the plaques and the process of making them are below.
This year began with one goal in mind: To shape the careers and change the lives of as many students as possible through hands-on learning experiences and interactions with individuals who love their professions. A thunderous should of gratitude to our volunteers and community partners for donating your time, experience, and resources to make this goal a reality!
Plans are already underway to make next year even more experiential and meaningful! Please contact Alexander Kapotas, Career Exploration & Internship Coordinator for information on how you can be a part of our school’s efforts to shape the careers of our students!
Athletics
Coaches Corner - Boys Volleyball
Submitted by Coach Dressen
April has been a great month for Boys Volleyball! Last week, Varsity battled it out with Warren on their home court and walked away with the win. And on Saturday Varsity went to the Ram Slam Tournament at Grayslake Central where they defeated Christian Heritage Academy, Proviso West, and Elk Grove to take 3rd place overall. Every athlete played fantastic volleyball and represented Mundelein well! Both the Varsity and JV teams defeated North Chicago on the road on Monday. Next week, all levels finally return to the MHS gym to take on Grant on Monday, May 6th and Lake Zurich on Wednesday, May 8th. JV plays at 5:00; Varsity at 6:00 in the Main Gym. We would love to see you then! Thank you for your continued support!

Coaches Corner - Girls Soccer
Submitted by Coach Falinski
The girls varsity soccer team had a tough week of games and finished the week with a tie against a highly ranked GBS team. However, even after a tough week of battles, the girls made time to come cheer on Coach Falinski’s youngest daughter (Harper) at her own soccer game. Go MHS!
