Weekly Inspiration
Something To Make You Laugh or Smile
Enjoy this video that reminds us how "awesome" it is to run synchronous e-learning days and record lessons. The paper curling as she's trying to draw was hilarious!
Something to Make You Think or Grow
I know many of you have seen or heard of the "R Factor" before, but I truly enjoyed this presentation by Tim Kight to a group of high school students. It is not only a reminder to ME personally about what I can control (my response), but it really got me thinking about if our kids have ever really heard this powerful message before. Think about how this message can impact YOU and OUR STUDENTS.
Want a better "O", choose a better "R".
Cardinal Recognitions
Thank You To:
- Joe Horvath for his incredible organization and planning to run a successful PSAT day!
- All of our staff members who participated in the spirit week. It's fun to connect and laugh together!
- Kelly Dudley for preparing the Anti-bullying training video for our students and completing that state requirement.
- The counseling department for putting together a very clear scheduling video to help students with step 1 of their scheduling process for the 25-26 school year!

SHS Cheerleaders & Athletic Department
The SHS cheerleaders and Athletic Department were invited to participate in the grand opening of the Dunkin Donuts on Southport Road. This location is partnering with SHS and donated $1,000 to our athletic program. The Southport mayor and community members were also present for the grand opening. Thank you for your connection and building partnership within the community.
Mr. Hanley
Mr. Hanley recited a portion of Edgar Allen Poe’s “The Tell Tale Heart” prior to the Symphony Strings performance of “Evil Eye and the Hideous Heart.” Thank you to Mr. Hanley for supporting students in the classroom, as a Booster Club sponsor, and in ANY way anyone ever asks you.
Mr. Wright
Mr. Wright and the Symphony Strings performed in the cafeteria for the annual Spooktacular Halloween Concert. This informal concert is always a great way to invite families to come in and enjoy the work of our orchestra students. The students also enjoy dressing up.
This same group also performed at Homecroft Elementary School as another way to share the gift of music within our own school community.
Halloween Costume Fun
Thank you so all of the staff members who participated in the Social Committee's Halloween costume contest. Who says high school teachers don't like to dress up?
Congratulations to Anne Manning and the "Spice Girls" for winning the individual and group competitions!
Mrs. Manning
Mrs. Manning's students are learning about dystopian literature the characteristics that are included within books, movies, and stories. The students watched a short video to demonstrate the characteristics and buld background knowledge. The students then discussed as a group their perseptions of given statements that align to topics that will occur while they read Fahrenheit 451.
Honor Roll Celebration
Thank you so everyone who helped plan, organize, and distribute the goodies during the Honor Roll celebration. Over 1,400 students were on the A and B Honor Roll for Quarter 1!
