Hey Parents and Guardians!

We’re getting ready for the SC READY assessment, and we want to keep you in the loop! Here’s what you need to know:

• Be On Time: It’s important for your child to arrive at school on time. Testing will begin as close to 8:30 am as possible. Students who are late will test in an alternative location.

• Plan Ahead: Please try to avoid scheduling doctor appointments or other activities during testing hours.

• No Electronics: PHONES AND SMART WATCHES WILL NOT BE ALLOWED DURING TESTING. These devices must be powered off and placed in book bags during testing. If a student is caught with a cell phone or smart watch during the test, it will be confiscated by administration and turned over to the proper authorities until any potential security violation can be investigated. Please talk to your student about this requirement prior to testing. Teachers will be going over this information with students prior to testing as well.

  (The only exception to this is if a student has an established accommodation in a 504, IEP, or ILAP allowing the student access to the device and we will manage those accomodations.)

• Extra Resources: We have helpful testing resources like brochures and sample materials available on the SCDE website.

*** This week, May 5-9, we have SC Ready testing on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. Students will only be offered bag lunches, consisting of a choice of sandwich and all other necessary components, on these three days.***

The CMS Student Nutrition Department would like to encourage parents to maintain a positive balance on your student(s) meal account. Each household receives bi-weekly balance notifications via email. As we approach the last few weeks of the school year, we wanted to remind you to check on your student's meal account to ensure that the balance is paid.

Daily attendance plays a vital role in your child's academic success, and every day counts-especially as we wrap up the year!

Please help us encourage your child to attend each day,stay engaged, and finish the year strong.

Remember that any full day absence, past or future, requires a written notice by a parent or a medical provider. After the 10th absence, a medical note is required.

The 7th and 8th Grade Dance students were honored with the People’s Choice Award and two 1st Place Outstanding Performance Awards, showcasing their dedication and hard work. Special shoutout to:

Despite challenges like conflicting schedules and last-minute changes, our students showed amazing resilience and teamwork! From overcoming doubts to supporting each other through the competition process, these students exemplified the true meaning of perseverance. 🏅💪

Thank you to the dedicated dancers, choreographers, and educators who made this possible, including Akhira Jeter and Samiyah Johnson for their support! 👏🎉

This marks the second year Chapin High School has hosted the event and the first time CMS students competed—what an incredible debut! ✨

We couldn’t be prouder of you all! Thank you for being remarkable, respectful, and responsible role models for our school community. 👏❤️

🎶🎉 We are SO proud of our Chapin Middle School Bands! Both the 7th Grade Concert Band and the 8th Grade Symphonic Band attended the SCBDA Concert Performance Assessment and received Superior with Distinction—the highest honor! 🌟
