Message from Mrs. Williams
CCI Families,
📱 CCI Phone Protocol Reminder 📱
At CCI, student cell phones must remain turned off and stored in their backpacks throughout the school day. Students are not permitted to check or use their phones while at school. Please do NOT text or call your child on their cellphone while they are at school.
If a student is found using their phone, they will receive an infraction, and a parent or guardian must pick up the phone from the office. We will not send phones home with students.
Thank you for helping us maintain a focused learning environment!
🙏Behavior Expectations & After-School Detention
As we move through the school year, we’ve noticed an increase in behavior concerns, including students refusing to engage in learning, not completing educational tasks, using inappropriate language, and excessive phone use. To address this, we will be implementing after-school detention from 2:45-4:00 PM for any student who receives six or more infractions.
Please take a moment to talk with your child about making positive choices and staying focused. We know that everyone is getting antsy this time of year, but it’s important that we hold the line and continue to do our personal best each day. Thank you for your support in reinforcing these expectations at home!
👆We Need Substitute Teachers!
Our school is always in need of dedicated and reliable substitute teachers to support our students when teachers are away. If you or someone you know enjoys working with kids and has a passion for education, we’d love to have you join our team! Substituting is a great way to make a difference while maintaining a flexible schedule.
For more information on how to become a substitute teacher, please contact our office or visit www.sed.k12.in.us. Thank you for helping us create a strong learning environment for our students!

⭐Happy School Maintenance Appreciation Day!⭐
Today, we celebrate the man who keeps CCI running smoothly—our incredible maintenance man, Jim Gardner! From fixing leaks to keeping our school safe and shining, Jim does it all with a smile and a heart of gold. His motto, "Hakuna Matata," truly shines through in everything he does—always tackling challenges with a can-do attitude and a sense of humor.
Jim, we appreciate you more than words can say! Thank you for your hard work, your dedication, and the positive energy you bring to CCI every single day.
Welcome to Ranger Nation, Mitch Carter!
Our students had the exciting opportunity to hear from Mitch, a Multimedia Journalist with 14 News, who visited to share his passion for writing! A native of Huntingburg, Mitch was thrilled to be back in his home community, inspiring young writers.
After graduating from Southridge High School and earning dual degrees in Journalism and Telecommunications from Ball State University, Mitch built a career in storytelling—reporting, directing, producing, and anchoring the news. He spoke to our students about the importance of strong writing skills in journalism and beyond, encouraging them to find their voices and tell their own stories.
We appreciate Mitch taking the time to connect with our students and look forward to seeing more of his work in the Tri-State area!
Celebrating Our NIE Week Student Winners! 🏆
During NIE Week, our students embraced the theme “Express Yourself” by showcasing their creativity in both writing and visual art. Through thoughtful journal entries and dynamic graffiti-inspired artwork, they explored the power of self-expression in a positive way.
We are thrilled to recognize our student winners whose work stood out for its creativity, depth, and originality. Two students from each grade were selected for their outstanding contributions in writing and visual art, and they were honored during our Express Yourself Writing Celebration each winner received 2 day passes to Holiday World. (Donated by Holiday World)
A special congratulations to our winners! Your voices and creativity inspire us all. Keep writing, keep creating, and most importantly—keep expressing yourself! 🎉✏️🎨

March Lunch Menu
Food Safety & Fresh Ingredients: Addressing Meal Concerns
We understand that there have been some concerns regarding the use of raw products in our meals. As we continue incorporating fresh, high-quality ingredients into our menus, we recognize that some items may look or taste different from what students are accustomed to.
One common misconception is that color indicates doneness, when in fact, temperature is the safest measure. To provide more information and address any concerns, we encourage you to review this resource from the USDA. Please rest assured that our cafeteria staff are fully trained in food safety and follow the necessary protocols to keep the food we are serving safe.
Thank you for your continued support as we remain committed to providing nutritious, high-quality meals.
