Every child, every day, whatever it takes!
Principal's Message
Sterling families,
We hope your child is enjoying their first week of summer break! Even though students are at home and not at school, they can still practice their reading, writing, and math daily. Apps such as Dreambox and Reflex are available for math. Students can also access online resources for reading. Each child was sent home with a summer reading backpack which included four free books and a summer workbook. Scroll down for more details on the summer reading challenge!
Although we've sent these dates out multiple times, I wanted to include them again so all families can mark their calendars for our Back to School Events.
- Monday, August 5, 9-11 a.m.: Kindergarten Family Workshop ~ We invite all rising kindergarten families to meet the team and learn about Sterling Elementary.
- Tuesday, August 20: Back to School Night (6-6:45 p.m. for ECSE, K-2; 7-7:45 p.m. for grades 3-5) ~ adult family members
- Wednesday, August 21: Open House 1-2 p.m. ~ Students and their families are invited to meet their teacher and drop off or receive school supplies
- Thursday, August 22: First Day of School!
As you prepare your family calendar for traveling, please adhere to the school division calendar to ensure students are in school each day they are well.
All summer, we will be in the main office should any needs arise. Just let us know. Have a great summer!
Sincerely,
Jennifer M. Short, Principal

Students who were formerly enrolled and may be returning to LCPS.
SPOTLight Students
We caught these students showing SPOT behavior (Safe, Polite, On-task, Trustworthy), and the teachers and principal recognized them on the announcements, with a medal, and a certificate. Thank you for being great role models!
