SHHHH....It's a Secret!
TOMORROW, Tuesday, Nov. 12th, Leyden faculty and staff will be participating in a secret spirit day. Can YOU guess the theme for the secret spirit day?
Click HERE or on the image to submit your guess. Everyone who guesses correctly will be entered into a raffle and three students will win a special prize (I promise it's a good one!). Guesses will be accepted until NOON on Wednesday, November 13th and announced during Eagle Time on Thursday, November 14th.
Holiday Stocking for Troops
Supports the troops this holiday season with Rho Kappa! Rho Kappa is collecting items to create holiday stocking for our deployed troops. Below are just a few of the items that are needed:
- Small tissue packs, pain relief medication packets, antacids, cough drops, laundry pods (fragrance free)
- AA or AAA Alkaline Batteries, lens cleaning wipes, hand warmers, trimmable comfort insoles
- Small Toothpaste, dental floss, lip balm, foot powder
- UNO and other Card Games, small puzzle books, Beanie Babies
Collection boxes will be located by entrance 4, entrance 18, and room 152-J. Contact Ms. Ryan or Mr. Scofield with any questions.
Annual Food & Toy Drive Begins Next Week
Student Council will be hosting its annual Food and Toy Drive beginning November 18th and ending December 6th. Students can earn raffle tickets for any non-perishable food items or new toys that they bring in. Prizes to be raffled off include Stanley Cups, lunch delivery to school via GrubHub or UberEats, Six Flag Great American tickets, and much more!

Leyden Loves the Hot Chocolate Run
On Sunday, November 3rd, 215 Leyden students volunteered at the Hot Chocolate Run in downtown Chicago. The following East clubs participated:
- HOSA - Future Health Professionals
- Key Club
- National Honor Society
- Service Club
- Spanish Honor Society
Club members cheered on the runners and passed out chocolate and water. Leyden students occupied the entire first aid station which was almost TWO blocks long. To learn more about the annual Hot Chocolate Run, click here.
Frankenstein Pumpkin Wins!
Prior to Halloween, the Freshman Class Board hosted a Pumpkin Coloring Contest. Eight designs were chosen for final voting by the Leyden students and staff.
Congrats to senior student, Alany Pantaleon, for winning the contest with her Frankenstein inspired design. Alany received a basket with Halloween and Leyden themed goodies.
MADD '24: Hundreds of Leyden Students Participated in this Annual Event
On Saturday, October 26th, East & West Student Activities hosted the 14th annual Make a Difference Day. Volunteers began the day with a pancake breakfast served by Leyden's administrators and then participated in various community service projects including planting trees, decorating libraries, cleaning parks, making cards for kids & veterans and much more. The day ended with a pizza lunch provided by Grand Stand Pizza.
MADD by the numbers:
- More than 400 people participated, including students (310!), faculty, Food Services, Maintenance, and Transportation staff, administrators, and community members!
- 34 East and West clubs and sports teams were represented!
- Students completed 25 service projects in 5 different towns in and around the Leyden community!
You can make a difference all year round by joining one of Leyden's many service clubs. INTERACT, Key Club, and Service Club are three of the clubs that do volunteer work in the community. If you are interested in learning more, contact the sponsors listed below.
