The official digital newsletter of La Porte ISD
Greetings, La Porte ISD Family. Today is a great day to be a Bulldog!
As we approach the six-week mark of the school year, I am pleased to report that everything is going exceptionally well. Our teachers are fully engaged, and our students are making great strides in their learning.
I’d like to take a moment to reflect on our recent Health & Safety Fair, which was a resounding success with over 1,000 residents in attendance. It was wonderful to see our community come together to focus on health and wellness.
Fall sports are now in full swing, and I encourage you to catch a game or match—there’s nearly always something happening! Your support means the world to our athletes. We’re also entering fall concert season, and I hope you will join me in celebrating our talented performing artists. These events showcase the hard work and creativity of our students, and your presence will make it even more special.
Superintendent Shout-outs
- Several of our FFA students participated in the Pasadena Livestock Show & Rodeo this past week. There were numerous excellent showings, which led to a successful auction. Congratulations to all FFA students and their parents for working so hard to prepare for big events such as these.
- Kudos to our JROTC Orienteering Team for a successful orienteering competition this past weekend. You make us proud!
- A huge shout-out to our Athletes of the Week. Your excellence on the fields, courts and pools is evidence of your hard work.
- The Mighty Bulldog Marching Band and Color Guard on Saturday participated in its first marching contest of the 2024 season this weekend and finished in the top ten bands. La Porte's drum line came in first. Congratulations to all!
- Shout-out to the Bulldogs varsity football team! After a tough pre-district schedule, the Bulldogs are 1-0 in district play following a win Friday night against Friendswood. The Bulldogs host Kingwood Park on Friday at Deer Park's Abshier Stadium. Let's pack the stands!
Finally, as we step into October, I want to highlight that it is National Principals Month. Our campus principals work tirelessly to support our teachers and staff, ensuring they have the resources they need to foster excellence among our students. Please join me in expressing our gratitude to them for their dedication and hard work.
Thank you for your continued support of our school community. Together, we are creating a positive and enriching environment for our students.
In your service,
Walter Jackson, Ed.D.

Must-Knows For This Week
- La Porte ISD is excited to introduce the easy option of paying for all school fees/spirit items with our new RevTrak online credit card payment system. Simply create an account, find your campus, choose your fee to pay and check out. The best part is that you will not be charged a fee to use the site. Access RevTrak here. (If you are adding funds to your student’s meal account, you will continue to use the My School Bucks website.)
- The 2024-25 Student Handbook and Student Code of Conduct are available online. Please familiarize your student with the contents. We are strictly enforcing the district dress code; you can review it beginning on page 54 of the Student Code of Conduct. Thank you for helping us ensure that our students dress appropriately.
- If your child rides the bus, we encourage you to download the SMART Tag Parent app. With the SMART Tag Parent App, families enjoy great features such as push notifications for load/unload status, proximity to home/school alerts and real-time location of your student's bus. Questions? Call our dedicated Transportation Department at 281-604-7177.
- Breakfast and Lunch are FREE for all La Porte ISD students this year! Supplemental food, such as fruits and vegetables, are also free for students who bring their lunch. (No registration is necessary.)
