Get ready for some friendly competition! Our 3rd Annual Penny Wars will take place Monday, January 13th through Friday, January 17th. Here's how it works:

Score Points for Your Class

• Bring in pennies: Each penny is worth 1 point for your class!

Sabotage the Competition

• Add silver coins (nickels, dimes, quarters) to other classes’ bins to subtract 1 point per coin.
• Use paper money (dollars, fives, tens, etc.) to subtract 1 point per dollar from the class of your choice.

The stakes are high!
1st Place Prize: Each student in the winning class earns $20 Carbon Cash and a popsicle party!
2nd Place Prize: Each student in the second-place class earns $5 Carbon Cash.

Let’s make this the best Penny War yet! Start gathering those pennies and silver coins, and may the best class win!

Carbon Valley Academy is ACCESS testing on the following days:
Listening: January 14th Time: 8:00am-10:00am
Reading: January 15th Time: 8:00am-10:00am
Writing: January 16th Time: 8:00am-10:00am
Speaking: January 17th Time: 8:00am-10:00am

It is important that your student is on time and in attendance on these days.

Each year in Colorado and across the country, students in Kindergarten through 12th grade who are learning the English language are given an assessment called the ACCESS for English Language Learners. This test provides important information for parents, teachers and school leaders about the progress our emerging bilingual students are making in learning English.

We are excited to announce that registration for the Cal-Wood trip is officially open! The trip will take place from January 29–31, and we encourage all students who plan to attend to complete the registration as soon as possible.

At this time, payment is not required, but we do need all attending students to be registered promptly to help us finalize arrangements. Payment will be due no later than Wednesday, January 15, 2024.
