Calvary's Preschool Newsletter
December 2024
"For unto us, a child is born..."
A note from the director:
We are excited to welcome the month of December at Calvary! In November, we were exploring themes of hibernation and migration, family traditions, community helpers, healthy eating, and turkey science. Our LIT and STEAM students explored a unit all about "our neighborhood," in which they learned about our community, the people who work here, and the people who live here. At the very end of the month, our Pre-kindergarten students shared their Thanksgiving program with their families, while our EPS and PS students shared a friendship snack together! It was a fun and busy month.
In December, the curriculum theme is "The Gifts of Winter." Students will explore topics such as compassion, evergreen science, the arrival of the winter season, holiday traditions, and the Christmas Story. We will be busy also be busy celebrating Christmas with our December chapel lesson with Pastor Krewson, our class Christmas parties the week of 12/11-12/13, and our school-wide Christmas program and sing-along on Monday, December 16th, from 9:30-10:15am (Please note that our last day of classes is Friday, December 13th. Monday, December 16th is the Christmas program only, no classes will be held on that day). I will send an email with Christmas program details during the week of December 9th.
Classes are still playing outside on the playground daily, so be sure your child is dressed appropriately for outdoor play.

December's giving drive for Prepared to Thrive
From December 2nd-December 9th, we are collecting new, unwrapped toys for Prepared to Thrive, a local organization helping Chester County moms and their children. This is a wonderful opportunity for your child to choose a toy to gift that they might like to play with, and bring it to school to donate. The children will have the opportunity to discuss during classroom circle time and share the toys that they chose. Visit https://www.preparedtothrive.org/ for more information about the organization.
Winter clothing for outdoor play
The winter weather has arrived, and our classes will continue to trek outdoors to play! Please be sure to send your child to school with a jacket (hat and gloves if needed) each day that they attend. Please be sure that your child's jacket is labeled with their name, and a jacket that they can learn to independently out on and take off (full zip, no pull overs please). If the weather calls for boots.snow gear at any point, your child's teachers will communicate to let you know what to send in for play. Thank you!
