Principal's Notes
The kindergarten students hosted this month's Community Meeting on Monday and did an absolutely amazing job teaching us about a Growth Mindset. The performance was amazing with great stage presence, lots of enthusiasm, and beautiful singing. The 4th graders enjoyed enrichment from High Tech High Touch called Power of Light to support their learning in science and took a fitness field trip to Wompatuck State Park on Thursday. The first graders enjoyed a field trip to Manomet Bird Sanctuary as well. We have completed MCAS math and ELA testing for grades 3, 4, and 5 and will begin science testing next week in grade 5 only.
As part of the enrichment visit from artist Rob Surette, the PTO purchased one of his paintings for the library. He hand delivered this painting of Rosa Parks this morning and hung it for us in its new spot! The students from Mrs. Deptula’s kindergarten class were there for the delivery and were so excited and inspired by Rob's quick visit and the painting!
The teachers and staff had some Undercover School Spirit fun today! Today was "Drink from anything but a cup" day. Be sure to ask your child what the noticed about teachers and staff around the school. Did they notice any unusual items being used as cups? We'll have a few more Undercover School Spirit Days for teachers and staff over the last few weeks. Be on the lookout for some fun pictures that come from it!
Cole’s Student Government is ready to be a Certified Kindness School through the Random Acts of Kindness Foundation! The final step in our application was to have all students sign our “Spread Kindness” pledge. Hope to share our official certificate soon!
Last Friday morning the staff celebrated Mrs. Robin MacDonald’s career as a speech and language therapist. She has 34 years in education and 11 years at Cole School! Congratulations on your upcoming retirement, Mrs. MacDonald!
We celebrated Mrs. Michelle Kenerson's upcoming retirement today. Mrs. Kenerson has worked as an aide at Cole School for the last 24 years. We are so appreciative for her many years of service and care to the students of Cole School and wish her all the best in her retirement!

Counselor's Corner
We have finished the Kindness in the Classroom curriculum, and have now moved to finishing the Habits of Mind. So far we have covered Responding with Wonderment and Awe and Taking Responsible Risks. To learn about these habits of mind, students in all grades have analyzed clips from National Geographic's "Best Job Ever" series to notice how people have made new discoveries, explored the ocean, and taken responsible risks to climb glaciers. 5th graders also did a great job completing their first puberty lesson about talking to trusted adults and having respectful conversations.

Physical Education
We finished our Volleyball Unit this week. Kindergarteners worked on striking with beach balls. First graders practiced bumping, serving and rallying with rubber balls. Grades 2-5 played games of volleyball! Additionally, fourth graders had a fitness field trip to Wompatuck State Park as a reward for their successful completion of their Get Fit Across America Program. The goals of the program were to encourage physical activity. Hiking and play time at Wompatuck was a fun and successful time!
