🎉 Academic Standouts! Congrats Eagle Commended Students!
Big congratulations to four Argyle High School students who have earned Commended Recognition in the 2025 National Merit Scholarship Program. What a great academic achievement for these Eagles!

About 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation are being recognized for their
exceptional academic promise. Although they will not continue in the 2025 competition for
National Merit Scholarship awards, Commended Students placed among the top 50,000 students
who entered the 2025 competition by taking the 2023 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.

🏫 You're Invited! Jane Ruestmann Elementary Dedication Next Wednesdsay
We are making final preparations for a special night in Argyle ISD! The District is hosting a dedication and ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Jane Ruestmann Elementary campus on Wednesday, Sept. 25 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Make plans to attend!!
All JRE families and the entire Argyle ISD community are invited to attend the event, which will include student-led campus tours and the official ribbon-cutting for the new campus. JRE is the fourth elementary school in Argyle ISD.
The event will include a special recognition for Jane Ruestmann, a beloved former Argyle ISD elementary art teacher who taught for more than 40 years.
School Funding Referendum - Community Presentations
The Argyle ISD Board of Trustees unanimously approved calling a School Funding Referendum for November 5.
How do you find out more as an Argyle ISD family or community member? The District has scheduled multiple opportunities to learn more about the School Funding Referendum and ask questions. These will be held at campuses, community common areas and at local coffee establishments.

What will happen to the tax rate?
With voter approval, this referendum will increase the M&O tax rate by $0.077. Property owners 65 and older with a homestead tax ceiling would experience no change to their taxes as a result of the election.
How would the additional VATRE funds be used?
- Teacher and staff pay raises
- Classroom instructional support positions
- Maintain classroom ratios in future years

🙏 Thank You Thursday: Celebrating our Amazing Maintenance Team!
A huge shoutout to our AMAZING maintenance team for everything they do to keep our district running smoothly. They went above and beyond, especially during the Homecoming Festivities a few weeks ago, and we couldn’t appreciate them more!
A big thank you also goes to our Eagle Partner, Chick-fil-A Argyle, for generously providing a year’s supply of chicken sandwiches that we were able to gift this hardworking team in recognition of their dedication. We are so grateful for you all!
School Board Briefs - Monday, Sept. 16 Meeting
Monday night, Argyle ISD held its monthly regular board meeting. The AISD School Board met at 5:00 p.m. for an executive session prior to the open meeting. We are providing you with School Board Briefs and hope this valuable information on agenda and action items helps you to be a well-informed Argyle ISD community member.
Our Board of Trustees conducted the open portion of the regularly scheduled monthly board meeting at 6:00 p.m. President Sam Slaton established a quorum and students from Jane Ruestmann Elementary led us in our Pledges to the Flags. Trustee Craig Hawkesworth conducted the Opening Prayer.
During recognitions, Argyle Education Foundation presented its report and donated $87,000 to AISD. We are so grateful for our continued partnership with AEF and the support they provide our district.

Argyle HS Theatre Hosting Day Camp - Oct. 5
The Argyle High School Theatre Department presents Camp Half-Blood Day Camp. The camp will be held at the AHS Auditorium and is $35. It will be held on Saturday, Oct. 5 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

🎀 Pink Out Wear - Deadline to Order Sept. 22!
Argyle Cheer invites all Eagle fans and the community to join hands in support of breast cancer research in October. This year's design was created to wear to all events district-wide from volleyball to AMS pep rally and PINK OUT NIGHT at the Oct. 11 Argyle football game. Argyle Cheer will donate 10% of all shirt sales directly to Susan B. Komen at the close of the project.

🎺 Band Hosting Chick-fil-A Fundraiser
The Argyle High School Band Spirit Night will be held Monday, Sept. 23 from 5-7 p.m. at the new Argyle Chick-fil-A at 1218 FM 407. Come support Argyle High School as 15% of sales will be donated to the Argyle High School Band. If ordering online, use the code AHSBand.
Lady Eagles Sweep Grapevine; Milestone Dig!
The Argyle Lady Eagle volleyball team had a big win Tuesday at home vs. Grapevine. Argyle swept Grapevine 3-0 and senior Piper Mickenheim set an outstanding personal milestone in the victory! Piper recorded her 2,000th career dig! Congratulations on this awesome career achievement.
Argyle (24-4) returns to action on Friday when it plays on the road in a big battle against Colleyville Heritage. The Lady Panthers knocked Argyle out of the playoffs last year in the Region I final to reach the state tournament.
Eagle Football Bye Week - Host Colleyville Heritage Sept. 27
The Argyle Eagle football team is off this week. Argyle returns to action next Friday and will host Colleyville Heritage at 7 p.m. in a district showdown. Colleyville Heritage knocked the Eagles out of the Class 5A Division II playoffs last season.
Argyle is coming off a dramatic comeback win last week at Mansfield Timberview in the district opener. The Eagles rallied with 14 points in the final three minutes to win 24-14. The Eagles are 2-1 overall and 1-0 in district play.
Next week expects to be a large crowd for this matchup of two teams expected to battle for the district title. The district will share ticket information early next week.

Argyle Tennis Blanks Denton
The Argyle Eagle tennis team is rolling in district play. The Eagles blanked Denton 24-0 on Tuesday and improved to 13-1 overall and 4-0 in district action.
Match balls were won by Slade Underwood and Tessa Woeste for their outstanding performances.
Argyle is currently ranked No. 10 in the Class 5A Coaches Poll. The Eagles will be back in action next week at Denton Ryan on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.

Denton County Preparedness Fair - September 28
The Denton County Office of Emergency Management is hosting the Denton County Preparedness Fair on Sept. 28 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 1 Courthouse Drive in Denton. The free event will include trucks, food, booths and games.
Mean Green Monster Mash - October 9
Join UNT for a spooktacular evening at the annual Mean Green Monster Mash, hosted by the SAAC (Student-Athlete Advisory Committee) on Wednesday, Oct. 9 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Indoor Practice Facility (1307 Bonnie Brae Street, Denton, TX 76207).
This fun, family-friendly event is the perfect chance to meet the Mean Green student-athletes while enjoying games, activities, and plenty of treats. It’s a great way to connect with the community and create lasting memories! Check out the flyers for more details.
