Our 5th grade Eagles researched Native American tribes, used thinking maps, collaborated, wrote reports, engaged in peer editing, and as a culminating activity they created a diorama with their families at home. We hope you enjoyed learning from them during Conferences!
Students are allowed to wear Halloween Costumes to school on Thursday, October 31st with the following expectations to help us maintain a safe learning environment:
Costumes are worn to school and students are able to navigate personal needs without assistance.
Staff must be able to recognize students; therefore, students may not wear costume masks, sunglasses, excessive face paint, or anything that covers the entire face.
Full body inflatables are not allowed at school or at the parade–they prevent staff from being able to recognize the student.
No blood or gore.
No weapons or simulated weapons.
Attire should not be disruptive to the learning environment.
Avoid pieces of costume that are not attached so they are not lost. School is not responsible for lost items.
If a child comes to school with any of the above items/attire, we will ask them to remove them. Thank you for your attention to safety and a quality learning environment.
Families are invited to come watch our costume parade from 2:50-3:30! {Weather permitting}
Students will form two lines behind cones which will lead up to the hill behind the building.
Families may stand on the hill behind the building at the end of the cones.
Students will begin lining up at 2:50pm and the parade will start after they are in place.
Students will return to their classrooms at the end of the parade to gather their belongings.

Good Attendance Matters
Attend Today, Achieve Tomorrow
Our goal this year is to ensure that every student attends school regularly, striving for five or fewer absences.
Showing up for school has a huge impact on a student’s academic success starting in kindergarten and continuing through high school. Even as children grow older and more independent, families play a key role in making sure students get to school safely every day and understand why attendance is so important for success in school and in life.
We realize some absences are unavoidable due to health problems or other circumstances. But, we also know that when students miss too much school--regardless of the reason--it can cause them to fall behind academically. Your child is less likely to succeed if he or she is chronically absent. Research shows:
Children chronically absent in kindergarten and 1st grade are much less likely to read at grade level by the end of 3rd grade.
By 6th grade, chronic absence is a proven early warning sign for students at risk for dropping out of school.
By 9th grade good attendance can predict graduation rates even better than 8th grade test scores.
Absences can add up quickly. A child is chronically absent if he or she misses just two days every month. Going to school regularly matters!
Mrs. Cloud took a group of 4th and 5th grade students to Colorado State University to participate in the Get Energized STEM Kit. Students tested different materials and used their own data to help them construct a working battery, using skills and techniques from the CSU research laboratory.
STRIVE FOR FIVE OR FEWER
Celebrating Outstanding Attendance!
To encourage outstanding attendance, we will be celebrating students who maintain 5 or fewer absences for the whole school year with “Outstanding Attendance” brag tags that students can display on their backpacks.
Students will earn their first tag in November if they have 5 or fewer absences.
They will earn their second tag in February if they continue to have 5 or fewer absences.
And finally, students will earn their third tag in May if they still have 5 or fewer absences for the whole school year.
Students who collect all three brag tags during the year will be invited to an end of school year attendance celebration in May!
Students and families loved visiting the Book Fair this week! Thank you Mrs. Miltersen and all of the wonderful volunteers for bringing this event to Prairie Ridge.
