CDO's Letter Grade
As many in our community already know, Arizona released letter grades last weekend and we wanted to make sure to share the results with you.
We are incredibly proud to share with our community that CDO has earned the highest rating of an "A"!
Every staff member at CDO will tell you that this accomplishment comes not just from academic performance, but from our sense of community, love and passion for what we do, and dedication to always doing right by each other, and our students. All of what we do matters. And of course, we appreciate the continued faith and support that we also receive from our parents and community because without you, our students would not get the support they need outside of our campus. Thank you to every staff member, student, parent/guardian and community member that supports our vision. It takes teamwork to make the dream work!
What does an "A" actually mean?
A (excellent): Distinguished performance on the statewide assessment, significant student growth, high four-year graduation rates, students on track to proficiency; overall performance is significantly higher than state average.

Seniors will be completing the CPR exposure portion of their graduation requirements. In 2016, the state of Arizona passed a law stating that every high school student will be required to learn hands-only CPR in order to graduate. Our seniors will do this in November (Nov. 8th or 15th) with their English class. It is important that they are present to participate.
12th grade students that do not have 12th grade English should contact Alecia Strang in the office to be assigned to a group.

Future Business Leaders of America
CDO LANGUAGES
American Sign Language (ASL) Year 3 & 4
Students went on a fieldtrip to the University Of Arizona and observed two ASL classes.
- One class was an Interpreting Class where students were participating with the professor and students learning the basics on interpreting skills.
- The second class they sat in on was a Deaf Studies major class with a Deaf professor. CDO students were engaged with the Deaf professor and recognized that the debate project the college students just received was the exact same project my students completed in their first year of ASL!
- Students were also provided a tour of the College of Education, U of A Homecoming experience on the U of A Mall, and were able to feel like college students with a free lunch anywhere they wanted in the U of A union!
That same night, those 19 kids performed in the school musical “Mamma Mia”. ASL year 3 / 4 students take majority of the first semester to interpret, and practice the songs in the musical. This year we had students interpret every song, including bow songs! They all did an amazing job, and performed at a professional manner!
Spanish 1
Spanish 1 students are finishing their testing on Unit 1. For the speaking test they had to describe who they are, what they look like, describe their personality, talk about their likes and dislikes and include descriptions of family members and pets from memory. No notes allowed. They sounded great! ¡Qué buenos estudiantes! ~Señora Yetman
Also, Ms. Yetman's classes celebrated Dia de los Muertos with Spanish 1 creating papel picado to decorate the room and Spanish 2 students created and presented their Alebrijes or spirit animals.
Día de los Muertos - November 1st & 2nd
Here are a few pictures from the Noble St. Gallery, which displayed some of the artwork and projects from level I, III Honors, and IB Junior Spanish classes. The main focal points were the AP and IB students' various altars or "ofrendas" dedicated to famous Hispanics.
Dr. Albrecht Classen
Dr. Albrecht Classen from the German Department at University of Arizona visited with our German classes on Wednesday, November 8th. He is the undergraduate advisor giving a presentation to promote further study of German.
EARLY CHILDHOOD - CDO PRESCHOOL
In honor of the 25th anniversary of CDO Preschool, Early Childhood will be collecting items for "Cake Kits" to donate to the food bank. We need box cake mix, tubs of shelf stable frosting, small bottles of vegetable oil and cake pans of all sizes. We won't say no to sprinkles either!
CDO Construction
All 9 of CDO's competitors were amazing as they represented our district, school and construction program at CDO! AFter meeting at 4:30AM on a Saturday, they traveled to Phoenix to compete against 9 other high schools and 52 total competitors. Congratulations to Brad Mahoney and Kate McEuen placed 1st and 2nd. It was an amazing day!
