BORMAN BLAST
SEPTEMBER 2024 FAMILY NEWSLETTER
Family Newsletter for October
WHAT'S BEEN HAPPENING?
Hello Families! First quarter is coming to an end and Fall break is approaching. We have Fall in our minds, but the desert climate is not cooperating. Hopefully you can take some time and head somewhere much cooler for a few days. I also want to welcome all of our new families that have been arriving throughout the first quarter. Welcome to Tucson and thank you for choosing Borman.
We have many events planned in October, but the biggest is our Fall Festival and Trunk or Treat. We need your help for several of the activities. We need a group to decorate and operate a haunted hallway in the 3-5 hallway. We usually have students volunteer for shifts as scary actors. We also need CANDY donations! Ultimately, Fall Fest is a fundraiser, so it relies on donations of candy for our trunk or treat! Please help if you can.
We will start looking at student achievement data on the quarter benchmarks, iReady, and DIBELS(K-3) and determining the best path forward for each student. If you would like to see how your child did, please ask them to login to Clever, go to School City, and have them show you their test results. You can always reach out to your child's teacher as well.
Please remind your student to be: Responsible, Respectful, Safe, and Kind!
Thank you,
Mr. Huss - Principal

Safe Technology Use
A community member suggested that we include a safe technology use section in our family newsletter. While we do teach safe technology practices with our middle school students in technology class(since students take their school laptops home and typically have more access to personal technology), we also want to offer some resources for families with students of any age. For now, I will just share a link to Common Sense Media parent resources. In the future I may share more specific ideas.
From the Health Office
Positions Needed:
Looking for a part time job? We have a couple of positions open:
- Campus monitor for before school and at lunch/recess (2.5 hours/day)
- Track Coaches for 4th quarter.
Student Drop-off/School Start and End Times/Traffic
Please remember, school starts at 8:20. Please do not drop your students off before 7:45 as we have no campus monitors on site until that time. Students that are dropped off before this are unsupervised and we cannot be responsible for something that might happen.
On Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, school ends at 2:30 for K-5 and 3:15 for 6-8. On Wednesday, school ends one hour earlier for teacher PD and planning. Please pick your students up promptly as our monitors leave soon after school ends each day.
Please be patient when dropping off or picking up your student/s in the round-about. Pull forward as far as you can and have your child exit or enter the vehicle as quickly as possible. If you are stuck in traffic along Lightning Drive, please do not drive down the opposite lane to go around. The jam usually moves along in a few minutes. Also, please do not park in the staff parking lot unless you have business in the front office. There is plenty of parking in the dirt outside of the staff lot and across the street.
