Week at a Glance 📆
Note from the Principals 📝
Greetings Meadowlark Families!
What a great first week back to school. We loved connecting with all our returning Mavs and getting to know our new students. A reminder that this Wednesday, 8/21 beings our Late Start Wednesdays. On Late Start Wednesdays (LSW), doors open for soft start at 9:35 and school begins at 9:45. Breakfast is still offered to all students and transportation runs a delayed pick up as well . If you need to drop your student off at the regular 8:35 start time, we will provide supervision with coloring and movies. We look forward to our first full week of school. With electives starting and preschool/kinder students starting their regular schedules, it will be a great week. Please reach out with any questions!

Important Information ❗
Meadowlark Back to School Night
Back to School Night is coming up! Join us Tuesday, August 27. There will be 2 sessions so families with children in multiple learning communities can attend both. The first session will run 5:00- 5:45 PM and the second session will run 6:00- 6:45 PM. Come hear what a typical day looks like for your child. Teachers will share more information about schedules, curriculum, project based learning and more. Back to School night is geared for adults and we don't provide childcare or supervision. Looking forward to seeing you next week!
Teacher Communication
This year, teachers are using TalkingPoints as the platform to communicate and connect with you about your child's progress. TalkingPoints is an easy and safe way families can communicate in their home languages with their child’s teachers for free. Through TalkingPoints teachers send messages to you in English from their phone or computer and it will come to you in your preferred language. Then you can respond or send your teacher a message in your preferred language. This will be an easy and effective way for everyone to stay in touch about your child’s education as well as day-to-day activities. Click here to learn more about TalkingPoints.
So that teachers can communicate with you in your preferred language please take a moment to fill out this form. Only one form submission is needed for the whole family.
Volunteering at Meadowlark
Many schools, including those in BVSD (Boulder Valley School District), have implemented background checks for volunteers, such as CBI (Colorado Bureau of Investigation) checks. This is part of a broader effort to ensure the safety and security of students. Background checks help schools screen individuals who will be working closely with children to ensure they have a history that aligns with BVSD safety standards.
CBI fingerprinting will be required for all volunteers who spend time in the building with students. Raptor will be used for "one-time" visits such as grandparents and classroom/school events.
This is a link from the district office for Visitor/Volunteer FAQ where parents can find resources to begin the volunteer application.
If you have any questions about the process or requirements, please contact Christie LaPlant at 720-561-7276 or christie.laplant@bvsd.org
Volunteers Needed in Curiosity Center
Hi Meadowlark Families!
I am so excited to get our students back in the Curiosity Center! If you would like to volunteer in the Curiosity Center this year there are two different options:
Supporting Huddle Visits : All K-6 huddles visit the Curiosity Center once a week at a set time. During that 20 minute time slot, volunteers would help students with the check-out/check-in process and with finding books of interest. They would also shelve the returned books and do a basic clean-up after the huddle has left. If interested, you can also help with leading story read-alouds or tech/stem activities. Please see the schedule and sign-up for a time slot on this form.
*Note classes start coming next week, if you can come great, if not, you can start the following week of August 26th.
General Volunteering: There are always a multitude of projects that we could use help with as well as general upkeep of our books (e.g. shelving books, making sure items are in the correct place, straightening/organizing shelves, etc). This would be great for anyone who needs more flexibility in their volunteer schedule or who would prefer to do the administrative behind-the-scenes tasks in maintaining our beautiful library collection. Please email marnie.steele@bvsd.org if you are interested.
Please let me know if you have any questions. Thanks for your support, I am SO grateful for our amazing Meadowlark Community! :) Ms. Steele
