Coloma Junior High
Week of October 21st
What a Week of Fun!
We wrapped up our 1st Marking Period with a flurry of activities.
On Tuesday, the Berrien County Prosecutor's Office presented to our student body about Digital Citizenship. Wednesday was Unity Day and we celebrated by wearing Orange and student council provided prizes for the students that participated.
Thursday brought us our Go Green reward. Students that had no missing assignments were able to spend time outside and enjoy "Monster Breath" (cotton candy). We had 48% of our student body earn the reward.
Thursday was also our first band and choir performances of the year. What a joy to see our students perform with fun and engaging music. We are already excited for the their next performance in December.
As we move into our 2nd Marking Period, we will celebrate more of our wins in the first quarter. This Friday we will hold our first Citizenship Reward. Students that earn 4's in Citizenship with less than two 3's will be invited to attend an activity in the morning.
We will also provide treats to students that have remaining Responsibility Passes for 1st Marking Period. All students are issued 4 passes to start the marking period and those remaining passes can be traded in for a treat.

Parent Teacher Conferences
We will hold Parent Teacher Conferences on Wednesday and Thursday this week from 4pm - 7pm. Please note that conferences are conducted on a first-come, first-served basis. We encourage you to arrive early to ensure you have time to meet with all of your child's teachers.
Study Hall Cancelled on Wednesday and Thursday this week.
Study Hall will be cancelled this week on Wednesday and Thursday this week due to Parent Teacher Conferences. We want to ensure that our teachers have time to prepare for Conferences after dismissal.
Friday Half Day
Friday is a Half Day of school for students. Dismissal will be at 11:37. Students will follow the half day schedule and will meet with all 6 classes.
Halloween Dance - No Referral Party
We will be holding our annual Halloween Dance on Oct. 30th 5:30 - 7:30pm. Our Dances are considered No Referral Parties, which means that students qualify to attend by not having any discipline referrals from 9/30 - 10/30. This is a great incentive for students to demonstrate their CARE Expectations every day. We will release more information about the dance as it approaches.
Study Hall at the Junior High
The Junior High runs Study Hall on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays each week. Study Hall is supervised by our certified teachers that are able to support a variety of subjects. There is no cost to attend and no sign up required. Students only need to have their own transportation home at 4:05.
For safety reasons, all students will sign in each afternoon and unless prior arrangements are made they will remain in the classroom until dismissal at 4:05.
Students can use this as a safe and supervised place to work on homework, receive extra help, utilize internet to complete projects, or wait for transportation. All JH students are welcome to attend.
