ROE 53 Newsletter

We hope your school year is off to a great start! The purpose of this monthly newsletter is to provide information from ROE 53: Professional Development opportunities and resources including SEL, book studies, yearlong cohorts, Administrator Academies, updates on Teacher Licensure, and any pertinent news from ISBE.

Science of Reading Overview 9/13/22: This workshop will provide a basic overview of both the science of reading and structured literacy from a practical perspective. That is, participants will leave with an understanding of the processes involved in reading, essential elements of literacy instruction, and strategies to more effectively teach foundational literacy skills. A large portion of the workshop will feature hands-on and dynamic training dedicated to the teaching of explicit phonics and promoting learner automaticity. This workshop is being offered in person, but will be streamed live and recorded if you're not able to attend in person. Register here.

World Language: meets quarterly to informally discuss and share about teaching world languages; starts Sept 15
