Texas Thespians Jr. Festival
Congratulations to all our wonderful students who participated in the Texas Thespians Festival in November. The restults are in and many of our young men and women scored in the excellent and superior ranges, with others invited to Nationals.
We are so proud of you.
Reminders from Nurse Erdin
Cold & flu season has arrived. We have seen an increase in Flu cases (especially Flu A) across the state of Texas in these past few weeks. Here are some ways in which you can help boost your child’s immune system.
- Eating citrus fruits and berries with Vitamin C and flavonoids
- Ginger and leafy green vegetables are also important for immune health
- Try to get at least 30-60 minutes of exercise several days a week
- Get 7-9 hours of restful sleep each night
As a reminder, students with a temperature of 100 or above (orally) are considered to have fever and will be excluded from school. To prevent the spread of a communicable disease, ill students must be symptom free and fever free without the use of temperature reducing medications for 24 hours before returning to school.
Improper Footwear
We are seeing a few injuries in health fitness classes and halls due to improper footwear. While Crocs, slides, and clogs are comfortable to wear they do not provide support or protection while exercising. If your child is enrolled in health fitness, please make sure they are wearing sneakers or athletic shoes.
We highly recommend your child wear shoes that are secured to your child's feet each and every day regardless of enrollment of Health Fitness.
