Irvin Informer
Irvin Elementary - November 18th
It is so hard to believe that next week is Thanksgiving break. Your kiddos and their teachers have been working so hard and doing great things so far this year! Take a few minutes to tell your kids and their teachers how thankful you are for their hard work and the growth they are making this year. It will mean the world to them to hear those affirmations! This week will be a full and fun one! Thursday is our Turkey Trot event for our fundraiser. As a reminder we are raising money for shade structures in the care line. These shade structures will also provide spaces for students during recess. We currently have 66% of our students registered and 28% have made pledges. We hope that you are sharing and considering making a donation to help us with this much needed improvement. Every little bit, and no donation is too small and will go a long way to help us meet our goal!
As a reminder, Friday is a Pink Day - no school for students. If your student is missing a sweater, jacket, lunchbox, etc. Encourage them to check the Lost and Found before they leave for the holiday break. The Lost and Found is getting very full and we want to ensure that your child comes home with all of their belongings.
Thank you to everyone that has sent Grateful Grams to a staff member. Your affirmations are filling the hearts of our staff members. I hope that if you have not done one, you will do one before the end of the week so we can share those with our staff.
We are asking families to complete our CKH midyear survey. It will not take long, and we would love to hear from you! Please take a few minutes to complete the survey linked HERE. We appreciate your participation.
When we return from the break, we will have some fun dress up days. If your child would like to participate, the calendar is below.
This year Irvin Elementary has a goal to raise $15,000 for a shade structure for carlines. We are nearing our fundraising goal, but still need your help to keep the momentum going!

Attendance Matters
We have noticed that a lot of student are being checked out of school early when they have a guest for lunch. We ask that you refrain from checking your child out early unless they have an appointment. When they miss the afternoon they are missing the same subject repeatedly. Students who do not have regular attendance from bell to bell miss important teaching and fall behind on their work. It is so important for students to be present every day and to attend the entire school day. Help up help your kiddo by making attendance a priority.

HB 3 required parent notice on practicing safe firearm storage
All Texas school districts are required by law to distribute information to parents and guardians about the safe storage of firearms. House Bill 3, Section 19 added Section 37.222 to the Texas Education Code, which requires the Texas School Safety Center, in collaboration with the Texas Department of Public Safety, to provide information and resources to school districts for the purpose of disseminating the information to parents. The Texas DPS launched a Keep ‘Em Safe Texas website that provides safety resources, materials, and tips for practicing safe gun storage to prevent accidents and keep children safe. Remember, a gun should be stored unloaded in a safe or locked container, with ammunition stored elsewhere. You can learn more and find additional resources from the Texas Department of Public Safety at https://safegunstoragetexas.com.
