Mrs. Fields Fundraiser
We only have a few more days left for our Mrs. Fields cookie and cheesecake fundraiser! Orders can be taken in person, or online through the link or QR code. All order forms and money for in-person orders need to be returned to school on October 7. Families will be notified of a delivery date once we have confirmed that with the company. Orders are expected to be delivered prior to Thanksgiving. We appreciate everyone being great sales people!
Book Fair
Central will be holding a book fair beginning September 30 and running through October 4. Information was sent home with all students this past week. Please contact Ms. Moreno if you have any questions.

October Lunch Menu
Outside Deliveries
We request that parents not bring in fast food for their child as a lunch option. Fast food items brought to the school will not be accepted. Additionally, please see the following policy about deliveries from our handbook:
Flowers, balloons, food, and/or other assorted items sent to the school for delivery to a student are prohibited. Please be advised that such deliveries will not be accepted at school.
Champions of the Charter
September's Champions of the Charter were recently chosen by the staff at Central School. This month, these students went above and beyond to practice and help others to feel POSITIVE, SAFE, RESPECTED, and CALM here at Central School. The champions will be recognized at the board meeting on October 15th. We are very proud of the great example they set for their fellow students. Congratulations to: Teagan R., Cash L., Esteban A., Max M., Addison, D., Wyatt D., Ryan H., Abram P., Elena C., Olivia M., Journey B., Cameron T., Lydia C., Ella S., Braden F.

Fall MAP Scores
Our students took their fall MAP tests in September. These tests help teachers to see which concepts their students need additional assistance on, and areas where students excel. Students were tested in the areas of math, reading, and language usage. The following students scored the highest for their grade level on each of the following tests:
5th grade math: Tyler G.
5th grade reading: Ainslee S.
5th grade language: Todd T.
6th grade math: Tanner W.
6th grade reading: Tanner W.
6th grade language: Loona M. (not pictured)
CONGRATULATIONS!
Perfect Attendance
In September, 160 Central students had perfect attendance. Students received a perfect attendance badge on their locker and are highlighted on a school bulletin board. Students that receive perfect attendance each month will be entered into a drawing for prizes, and will be able to help their class earn class rewards. Having great attendance is very beneficial to the success of our students. Congratulations to all of our students with perfect attendance!

News from 5th Grade House 1
House 5-1 has started S.A.F.E. with Officer Berninger. S.A.F.E. is replacing D.A.R.E. this year and is presented by the Ottawa Police Department. S.A.F.E. stands for "Safety Awareness Furthering Education". The goal of the program is to teach students about staying safe in various situations that are relatable to the kids. The fifth graders will have visitors from the police department and fire department over the course of the 10-week program. During our first lesson, Officer Berninger introduced himself and the program to our classes. We are looking forward to our lessons with him and being the first group to participate in the new program!
Water Bottles
We are still having some problems with water spilling from mugs that have straws. We ask that students bring a water bottle that can be sealed against spills. We have had numerous spills that have led to damaged iPads, books, and other items. Please encourage your child to bring a sealed water bottle to school.
5th and 6th Grade Boys' Basketball Tryouts
5th and 6th grade boys' basketball tryouts will be held on Tuesday, October 8 and Wednesday, October 9. Exact times will be sent out closer to the tryout date. Attendance at both days of tryouts is mandatory. All boys who want to participate must have a current sports physical, a concussion form, and an insurance form completed and turned into the school office before the first day of tryouts. Boys who are interested need to tell their teacher, and they will be added to a list. The office will verify if students are missing any paperwork, and will send it home with your student. If you have questions, please contact the school office.
Central Needs Your Help!
We are collecting plastic to recycle to have a bench made for our garden at Central. We are looking for plastic bags and wrappings. Please do not send plastic bottles. All plastic needs to be clean and free of food/organic materials.
