Omar Taousi finished 11th overall in the boy's race with a time of 17:04 out of 23 teams and over 200 runners
Victoria Stern finished 8th overall in the girl's race with a time of 19:52 out of 21 teams and 172 runners

FAST Reading Test
The FAST Reading test window will open on September 3, 2024. The specific dates for our campus will be forthcoming. On test days students will need their Chromebook fully charged as we only have a limited supply of extra Chromebooks to provide to students on test days.
The Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT) will be given to all 9th, 10th, and select 11th graders on Wednesday, October 16, 2024. For 9th and 10th graders, the PSAT is free and is a great opportunity to practice for the real SAT. It also gives a baseline (no studying needed) for accelerated classes potential, information for instructional support, and for 10th graders to be identified for the potential for the National Merit Scholarship Program that is applicable in their 11th grade year. All 9th and 10th graders are pre-registered by us. There is no cost!
Select 11th graders may choose to pay to take the PSAT on October 16. The cost will be $20 and you must pre-register through School Cash Online to pay starting August 26th. No cash or checks will be accepted.
Juniors who have been identified as National Merit Scholarship qualifiers will take the test free of charge.
The PSAT is completely digital. Students must bring their fully charged chromebook on October 16 in order to take the test. More details will be emailed home.
EOC Assessments - Students needing to take the Algebra 1, Geometry, Biology, or US History EOC for the first time will test during the window from September 9 - October 4, 2024. An email will be sent to those taking the test with their date, time, and location.
Classic Learning Test (CLT) will be given to any 11th or 12th grader who needs to meet their high school Reading or math graduation requirement. Students will test on October 16, 2024. An email will be sent to those taking the test with their location.
AICE Exam Retakes will be given to registered students beginning September 30. These exams are for students who still need to pass the exam for an AICE course already completed.. Please register by September 6, 2024 here. After you register, you will be sent a School Cash Online link to pay for your exam.
SAT/ACT Fee Waivers - SAT and ACT offer a test fee waiver program to eligible students that covers the regular registration cost of the exam. To determine eligibility, you must complete the survey at this link EVERY YEAR, so please visit the link today. Once you receive your eligibility letter, please contact your child's school counselors for your waiver.

Freshman, Sophomore and Junior Information Night
Freshman, Sophomore and Junior Information Night will be held on Tuesday, September 24th at 5:30 pm in the theater. The School Counselors will discuss the following topics: College & Career planning, SAT and ACT Testing, graduation requirements, as well as, State University entrance requirements, Military pathways, Bright Futures, AICE, AP program, and much more. We hope to see you there.
PSAT INFORMATION
The PSAT NMSQT will be held on October 16th at 7:30am. Tickets are on sale for the juniors through school cash until September 13th. The cost is $20 for juniors. If you are in 9th or 10th grade, you do not pay for the exam. Ms. McElwain also emailed National Merit candidates (grade 11) that were identified by the School District. If you received an email from her, you are automatically signed up and will not pay for the test.
This test could qualify you for many scholarships like the National Merit Scholarship and it is also the last practice test before your SAT. Check out the link below for further information regarding the National Merit Scholarship program. Spots are limited.

NEW Records

EVENT RULES
- All persons, bags, and vehicles may be subject to search
- Clear bags ONLY inside the stadium. Large purses and other bags are prohibited
- NO Re-entry. If you exit you cannot return
- NO admittance after halftime
- No loitering outside the stadium or in parking areas
- Exit the stadium immediately at the conclusion of the game
- No outside food or beverages may be brought into the stadium
- Unruly conduct, disruptive behavior, use of profane, obscene or abusive language of any type will result in immediate removal from the event
- In the event of an emergency, follow all instructions provided by law enforcement or school staff

Class Requirements
Students must be a minimum of 15-years-old by the start of the course.
Students must attend West Boca Community High School.
Students are allowed only two absences.
The Driver Education course counts toward the elective graduation requirement. (.5).
Students will take the Class E Permit Exam and Traffic Law Substance Abuse Education course in class. (Free)
Description
This course introduces students to the highway transportation system and the strategies which will develop safe, basic driving knowledge and skills related to our mechanized society. It will provide an in-depth study of the scope and nature of accident problems and their solutions.
Behind The Wheel Driving
Students receive 6 hours of driving with the Safety Council of the Palm Beaches. Students MUST attend ALL class sessions unless they are driving.
Weeks 1-2
Week 1- Sept 17, Sept 18, Sept 19
Week 2- Sept 24, Sept 25, Sept 26
Students will learn about the driving task, signs, signals and roadway markings.
Students will learn basic vehicle control and risk management with the I.P.D.E. process.
Students will be taught drug and alcohol (D.A.T.E.) course information. Instruction will be geared to pass the State Restricted License exam.
Students will learn safe and responsible strategies to make decisions and think critically. Materials used: Florida Drivers Handbook and textbook Drive Right.

Students will learn about driver conditions and how to manage distractions.

Students will learn about controlling the vehicle.
Students will learn about natural laws such as gravity, friction and traction.
Students will be taught how to execute maneuvers such as steering, changing lanes, making turns, and parking.
Students will discuss negotiating intersections (controlled and uncontrolled), determining right of way and judging gaps.
Students will learn about sharing the roadway with motorcycles, bicycles, mopeds, scooters, pedestrians and big trucks.
Students will learn how to handle emergencies such as brake failure collisions, roadway hazards, and accident procedures.
Students will learn about buying and maintaining a vehicle.
Students will learn how to plan travel destinations.
Additionally - Students will learn the nuances of driving in urban traffic, rural areas, and expressways, along with operating a vehicle in adverse conditions such as rain, fog, snow, and reduced visibility. Pupils will also be taught vehicle maintenance and financial responsibility (insurance) and go over fuel-saving tips and recycling ideas which will be included on a Final Exam.
