Don’t forget during holiday travel that your student has access to 1000’s of audiobooks through our library app called Sora. Directions are on the Borah Library website. Click “Digital Reading” and you will find directions to log in to our book shelf- accessible on both phone and chromebook.
Just a reminder that if your student is having any Chromebook issues, remind them they should visit the Library for service.
Green Team/Sustainability
Here’s a recent story highlighting Boise School District’s work to track energy use and save money: Boise School District's clean energy commitment. Before Thanksgiving, Winter and Spring breaks Borah follows “powerdown” procedures (unplugging devices etc.) to use less energy while we are gone. Those results are paying off! Idaho Power shares the heat map data with us. Our Borah Green Team will look at the data collected during our past “power down” vacation days, and will be encouraging everyone to participate again before our upcoming holiday breaks.
Students also were recently able to visit with a City of Boise Recycling/Curbit employee and learned about recycling updates that they will share with staff and students. Plastic crinkle bottles can now be recycled in “blue bins” and dairy tubs (yogurt, sour cream etc.) can also now go in the “blue bins.” The student Green Team meets Wednesdays at lunch in room 308. Everyone is welcome!
Does your student need extra support?
Borah is offering support groups to all students and are accessed by both those seeking connections and those needing intensive support. The purpose of a support group within the high school setting is to provide participants with a comforting, safe environment where they feel free to express themselves. In addition to providing emotional support, group participation also allows students to establish meaningful and trusting relationships with their peers. If you would like your student to participate contact our school social worker Becky Woodland at rebecca.woodland@boiseschools.org or 208.854.6916.
